Hello!
My name is Najma and I study History at the University of Birmingham. I studied History, English Lit and Religious Studies at A-Level so I understand the stresses that come with essay-based subjects!
Throughout my life, I have been taught by some incredible tutors and I hope that I can not only help you succeed in your exams, but also grow in confidence.
I aim to make the sessions as relaxed as possible as I know how stressful school can get. My sessions will be tailored to you, ensuring that your academic needs are met. In order to find out what you want to work on, we can have a Trial session where we can get to know other as well as discussing your goals. From there, I will make a thorough lesson plan which specifically caters to you.
During the sessions, an emphasis will be placed on exam techniques which will allow you to answer questions effectively. I will also offer useful revision tips and help you make resources (to spare you the chaos that is last-minute flashcard-making!)

I am a 65 years old tutor of predominantly History and Politics, with English and Religious Studies as my supplementary subjects.
Willing to teach on-line by Skype (preferred) or Zoom, as well as person-to-person.
As you will note from my qualifications and professional experience, I have taught all four subjects for some 35 years, at College, University, Sixth Form College and High School. While the majority of my teaching has been in the UK, mainly in Birmingham, London and Bristol, nevertheless I have also taught abroad at university in the Philippines. Additionally, I have been an A'Level Politics and History examiner for the former London and Oxford & Cambridge boards in the 1990s and early post-millennium decade. So also, have I written course brochures for the History and Politics Distance - learning programmes for the National Extension College, Cambridge. All of this has added up to my having acquired a broad professional experience, which I put to the benefit of my students.
My teaching style is very much subject and communication based, with the emphasis applying knowledge and essay skills towards achieving the best exam results. There is also a priority attached to reading and grammar skills, both of which appear to be neglected by the contemporary British educational establishment. Hopefully I can use my experience and robust teaching methods towards enabling students to gain their best performance in exams and careers. - Please also note that I am happy to tutor students on-line - ie. Skype (Preferred) or Zoom, and have a fair experience of this kind of teaching.

I am a secondary school teacher in Birmingham, currently Head of Humanities as a History specialist. I have taught GCSE and A Level successfully for over 25 years. I have consistently achieved outstanding results for students of all abilities. I have been a marker and team leader of GCSE exams for OCR and AQA exam boards.
Instilling knowledge is the key to exam success, and students are expected to learn facts to support their exam work. I also teach specific skills and structires needed to answer exam questions, using past paper materials and model answers. Marking work and feeding back are vital tools for me, as its getting students to improve selected areas of their work.
