I taught French and German for 30 years in London secondary schools before taking early retirement in July 2022. Since then, I have been offering private tuition in French, German and EAL at all levels.
I have excellent testimonials from satisfied past and present clients. These can be made available on request and can be independently verified.
I have access to the most up to date materials and resources needed to successfully deliver GCSE, IGCSE, A level and IB tuition in both French and German.
I have marked GCSE exams for both AQA and Edexcel so understand what is required to succeed in MFL public exams.

I have been tutoring for over 10 years and concentrate mainly on GCSE. I teach many adults from scratch or picking up where they left at school. I teach as I learned, not as a native speaker, but as a language lover who enjoyed languages at school and at university and aim to support my students by helping them with grammar and vocabulary so that they can make good progress.
When my own children were doing their GCSE's, helping them lead me to discover how much I loved teaching. All my lessons are very much tailor-made to suit the needs of each person and if teaching on-line I email notes after each lesson. I always go the extra mile for my students particularly in the run up to important exams and assessments.
I am foreign language conversation assistant at Dame Alice Owens School in Hertfordshire.
Trial 30 minute lesson on Zoom, Skype or face to face free of charge.
Review via Nextdoor Oct 2023: A friend and I are enjoying Skype based lessons with Paula. She is always very well prepared. She is flexible and ensures that our conversation and grammar lessons are integrated into the other work we are doing. She provides full and helpful notes of our sessions, together with relevant homework. We laugh a lot too as she also has a good sense of humour
Fiona: Paula has such a gift for languages and is able to teach in a way that gives her students a real understanding and love of the language. You can see how much confidence she gives to her students and their exam results clearly reflect this.
I highly recommend Paula!

I'm a German native professional language coach, originally from Berlin, Germany. I enjoy sports, poetry and literature. I teach all levels of German, beginners including A Level and University German, conversational German, GCSE German and intensive exam preparation. Furthermore, I teach commercial classes to provide business German to employees preparing to go to a German speaking country or individuals planning to start a career in any of the German speaking countries. I also offer cold war specific history sessions and holiday workshops. I believe in a "one to one approach" and teaching through positive encourgagement rather than "tell and do". I plan all classes according to level and the targets of my student and report back to the parents if required. Students are always encouraged to express themselves and develop a natural flow. Intensive exam preparation is fully comprehensive. I provide all materials for all lessons, all levels and students are encouraged to take completed work home to revise so that all work is understood at all times. During term, holidays double lessons and intensive exam preparation workshops are available upon request. When will you have your first lesson?

Having recently graduated with a First-Class BA from the University of Oxford, I am keen to share my passion for languages by helping students perform successfully at school and in exams, placing a particular emphasis on speaking and grammar teaching. I offer tutoring in French, German, and English literature for ages 5-18. Before memorisation, I focus on communication and understanding, moving at the student's pace to ensure that any new material has been absorbed.
I have tutored for four years, both online and in person, and have a strong academic record that reflects my committed attitude. I have taught beginners, those preparing for 13+ scholarship exams, and GCSE students. I am familiar with most examination boards at GCSE and A Level, especially Cambridge iGCSE and Pre-U. Furthermore, I offer tailored support with personal statements and Oxbridge interview preparation.

I enjoy teaching German and French and am based in Clapham in South London. I teach ONLINE ONLY - it works very well for one-to-one lessons and avoids the problems inherent in getting to a venue! It also means that you can take your lessons, even when you're away from home.
I have a PGCE (Post-graduate teaching certificate in Education) in German and French. I have been tutoring for the last 8 years, with considerable successes among my GCSE students, who all improve by several grades - usually mostly to Level 8's and 9's.
I am bi-lingual in German and speak excellent French. I conduct lessons in French or German right form the start. Adult learners are very welcome: I teach adult students who work for overseas companies, have German or French partners, or need to pass language exams in order to live and work abroad.
Before we start, we will discuss your goals, class frequency and the time you have available for homework between classes. I offer a free, no obligation half hour conversation and assessment, so that I can suggest how we best proceed. If you are happy we can start straight away!
Do book a video appointment if you would like to find out more or get started.

I am a professional freelancer with a Masters degree in Classical Music and Performance and I am actively seeking a new challenge.
I am a Master's graduate and classically trained singer who is an experienced performer within theatre and classical music. I currently work as a freelance educator with a rounded expertise in many areas of employment, predominantly as a teacher of the Performing Arts. I have worked as a teacher of Drama, Voice and Communications at a well known private school and as a private Performing Arts coach for multiple schools and companies. I operate predominantly as a self-employed person within businesses and schools and I am therefore responsible for all of my own administration and organisation as well as liaising with these various institutions.
I also hold Alevels in both French and German and speak both of these languages to a fairly advanced level.
One of my most rewarding roles was working with NCS with The Challenge as both a Performing Arts Tutor and Public Speaking Coach. In the first role, I was able to teach performing arts and devising work to GCSE leavers in areas of London, and I enabled them to use their newfound skills to liaise and work with local charities creating new devised performances every week, which would then lead to a collaborative project to enable them to give back to their local community.

The german Sophie K. is one of the most promising cellists of her generation in Europe. Since 2014 she studied with Prof. Alexander Gebert and Prof. Xenia Jankovic in both – artistic and pedagogical studies at the University of Music Detmold, Germany. In 2017/18 she studied as an exchange student through the Erasmus program at the Royal College of Music Stockholm in the chamber music academy Edsberg with Jakob Koranyi , Mats Zetterqvist and Torleif Thedeen. She received her Bachelor degree in spring 2019 and started her master studies in September at the London “Guildhall School of Music and Drama” with Prof. Louise Hopkins. The University offered her the "Child memorial award", a financial award for her studies.
Born in 1995 near Augsburg (Germany) in a family of professional musicians, for Sophie K. music was always a part of her everyday life. After her first cello lessons at the age of five she had successfully won various competitions for Singers and Cellists, as the Germany-wide competition „Jugend Musiziert”. In 2013 she received first prizes in two categories - as a soloist and with her Piano quartet. Moreover her chamber music ensemble also won the „WDR 3 Klassikpreis” (“Prize of Classics”).
Before her studies she had lessons with Edgar Gredler, the Solo Cellist of the “Bayerischer Rundfunk” (the Bavarian broadcast orchestra in Munich) and Stephan Haack, the Solo Cellist of the renowned “Münchner Philharmoniker” (the Munich Philharmonic Orchestra). In her music and art focused High School, the “Pestalozzi Gymnasium”, she could benefit from its wide spectrum of musical education.
Sophie attended masterclasses with Professors like W. Boettcher, M. Carneiro, N. Eppinger, L. Fenyö, G. Gnocchi, N. Gutman, F. Helmerson, L. Hopkins, Z. Plesser, E. Rovner, G. Schiefen, T. Thedeen, W. Yang as well as Alban Gerhardt and Jan Vogler. Additional she visited festivals all around Europe as for example the Cello and Chamber Music Festivals at the Kronberg Academy. Furthermore she took advanced classes in baroque and contemporary music techniques with Dmitri Dichtiar and Prof. Andreas Lindenbaum and currently studies baroque cello as her second studies at the Guildhall with Joseph Crouch.
As a Soloist, Sophie gave concerts in all big concert venues in and around Munich. For example did she perform the Dvorak Cello concerto in November 2016 and Tchaikovskys “Rococo Variations” in 2019 in the “Herkulessaal” of the Residence of Munich, one of the biggest concert halls in Germany. She worked with conducters like C. Adt, S. Gauer and B. Koch and played with various student and semiprofessional orchestras as well as professional orchestras like the “Bad Reichenhaller Philharmoniker”. More solistic concerts are planned for the upcoming seasons with various orchestras in Munich ( www.*** ).
Sophies focus lies on chamber music and orchestra playing. Through numerous courses, projects and especially the education at the Edsberg chamber music academy with Prof. Mats Zetterqvist in Sweden, she was able to increase her repertoire and her ability in ensemble play. Her latest success was shown in receiving the first prize in the “Auryn Competition” with her ensemble. She joined the bavarian youth orchestra in 2009, the young “allgäuer” philharmonics in 2014 and played in Europa Musicale´s “womens orchestra” in 2018. Moreover did she play in the Edsberg as well as in the Australian Chamber Orchestra under the leadership of Richard Tognetti. Sophie played under conducters like Mariss Jansons, Daniel Blendulf, Han-Na Chang and Kristiina Poska.
Besides the traditional concert venues Sophie gave performances in elementary schools with a youth Orchestra, which was founded by her and Anna Handler in Munich, to make music accessible to children from elementary schools in near-illiterate social classes. The Orchestra also performed in various refugee camps. Furthermore she joined “Musethika” in spring 2018, a music project with concerts in hospitals and rest homes.
As a child of two music educators and authors of various instrument methods Sophie learned right from the start the basics of educational teaching. Already in High School she was assigned to teach younger students in groups, as well as in the music school of Munich. In the last five years she was employed at the music school “Musikschule Schieder - Schwalenberg”as the main teacher for all Cello students. Furthermore she could benefit from her science of education studies.
Sophie K. plays a Cello of “Giuseppe Pedrazzini” made in 1942, Milano, which is placed at her disposal from the “Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben” Hamburg.
