Hello and welcome to my tutoring profile. To give context, I was a Teaching Assistant for 15 years and worked across all areas of primary levels from Nursery up to year 6. I finished my career being the leading Teaching Assistant in neurodiverse children as I have a passion for all children to have the education they deserve. I am an extremely caring, empathetic person with a passion for children’s education.
I planned, delivered and evaluated focus groups on a daily basis, often with the purpose to encourage cooperative engagement with other pupils. In addition, I had key children, who I would track their journey, in order to ensure they were meeting the key markers set out in the curriculum.
I would liaise with parents/carers on a daily basis. I created exciting multi-sensory environments which inspired and aided classroom learning.
I’ve worked alongside a variety of teachers when working in years 4,5 & 6 which allowed me to familiarise myself with the KS2 curriculum. I have 5 years’ experience working in Year 6 giving me a wealth of understanding of preparation for SATS, with children across all abilities.
In addition, I ran the school choir and school eco group. With the choir they would perform in assemblies, nursing homes and the local community. The eco group tended an allotment alongside people in the community as well as projects of planting using recycled materials around the school.
I believe children’s education should be an all-rounded experience and we should invest in them wholly and wisely as they are our future generation.
I have over forty years' experience of private tuition to students aged 2 to adult. I have taught maths and English to all ages, including preparing students for entrance exams. I also teach science up to KS3. I have worked with those for whom English is not their first language, to help them improve their skills. I also have extensive experience of working with students with various kinds of special educational need such as autism, ADHD, delayed development, etc.

Hello, I have been teaching for 10 years across Key Stage 2. I have led on boosters in the build up to SATs also.
I have recently completed my MSc in Criminology. I have been training people throughout my career. I can teach with sensitivity and understanding. I am able to explain things in a clear and transparent way. I train through understanding individual needs.
I’ve been teaching now for 25+ years. During that time I’ve taught the whole age and ability range from age 11 to A level. Since 2011 I have been tutoring one to one and also small groups. So far all of my students have achieved their required grades.
I have taught in schools and colleges at home as well as abroad. I am still enthusiastic and able to tailor my lessons to suit all individuals, including those with extra educational needs. Having worked within Additional Educational Needs at Alderwasley (with A level Politics and GCSE History and Citizenship students); City and Guilds English and Maths at both Red Tape and Sheaf Training; AQA English Language at the SUFC Academy (ah, the enemy!); an EFL tutor at Birkdale; an Edexcel GCSE History examiner and privately in the subject areas of History, Politics, Drama and English Literature, and a spell at both Low Edges and Atwood Primary with many a colourful unicorn, I feel my abilities have been sufficiently honed to provide an insightful, compassionate and dedicated individual, who, not only loves his disciplines and the thrill of communicating, but does so with a sense of humour that only years of being a SWFC fan and Labour voter can bring. Moreover, my experience of performing has equipped me with the talent to convey information with erudition and intelligence. Incidentally, some of my plays have been produced in Sheffield, Leeds and London with the good folk of Leeds having had the equal good fortune of witnessing me grapple with musical theatre.
