I am an experienced English teacher who has worked in secondary schools for the over 20 years. I am also an AQA Lead Moderator and and Adviser to more than 150 schools for English Language A Level. I have Advanced Diplomas (post degree) in Language and Literacy and in Child Development. English Language is my passion though, of course, I have taught GCSE Literature as part of my professional role in school and I love teaching the texts associated with the requirements of the course. I am happy to write specific schemes of work tailored for students' specific needs. I enjoy working with teenagers at both GCSE and A Level though my specialist Language knowledge is particularly relevant to A Level Language students. Increasingly, however, this in depth knowledge is relevant to GCSE English students. I am happy to work with all levels and relish the opportunity to engage with individuals who are seeking to increase their knowledge and understanding of the key requirements for both GCSE and A level courses. During the past year I have worked alongside students from years 7 - 13. I prefer to work online as this allows me to work one to one with pupils from across the country and help them to develop their skills through close monitoring and feedback. My DBS Certificate was renewed on 15 June 2024 and I have a current Child Protection Certificate 2023 both of which are requirements for my position as an English Teacher at a High School. I will make all powerpoints available to students after the classes and will mark and give feedback for work completed after the lessons although homework is optional.

Hi, I'm Abdullahi, a dedicated 17-year-old student offering expert tutoring in Science and English. My goal is to help students understand complex topics, boost their academic performance, and foster a love for learning in a supportive and engaging environment.
I specialize in a variety of science subjects, including Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. Whether you’re struggling to grasp a specific concept, need help with homework, or are preparing for an important exam, I can break down difficult material into manageable chunks that make sense. I also offer tutoring in English Language and Literature, assisting students with reading comprehension, essay writing, grammar, and analyzing literature.
As a fellow student, I understand the challenges of balancing schoolwork with other commitments. That’s why my approach is student-centered and flexible, adapting to each individual's needs, strengths, and learning style. I believe in making lessons fun, interactive, and relevant, so students stay engaged and feel confident in their abilities. My goal is not just to help you get better grades, but also to instill strong study habits, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills that will benefit you beyond the classroom.
If you’re looking for someone who genuinely cares about your success and can provide the personalized support you need, I’d love to help you achieve your academic goals. Let’s work together to unlock your potential!

I have just finished my A-levels, achieving 3 A’s.
I studied Spanish, law and English literature, under the exam boards AQA, OCR and Edexcel, respectively, though I am able to teach any exam board as many overlap.
For English literature, I studied Frankenstein, The Handmaid’s Tale, A Streetcar named Desire, poems of the Decade, Othello and the Keats anthology. For my coursework I used The yellow wallpaper and The tenant of wildfell hall. Although I cannot aid massively with coursework, I can give useful tips and tricks which allowed me to achieve my grade.
I know how much hard work it takes to achieve high grades and I’m excited to motivate my students to achieve their aspirational target grades.
I believe independent work is important outside of tutoring sessions so I will set work alongside my lessons and review in following ones.
Inside my lessons, I will focus on what the student believes they need to work on most and suggest recommendations to aid them in achieving the best grade possible.
As I’ve just finished my A levels, I can share and teach the best, first hand advice on what got me marks in all of my papers.
I have experience tutoring as for my 2 years in college, I engaged in a tutoring program for GCSE students and A level students within my college.
I’m very excited to meet and teach the next generation of aspiring students!

I have been a secondary school teacher since 2014, and have been a private tutor since 2016. After becoming Assistant Head of Year 9 at my school in Hampshire in 2016, I then moved in 2018 from Hampshire to Manchester. Since 2021, I have been the Head of English at a comprehensive high school and teach a range of abilities across both KS3 and KS4.
I have experience in tutoring from the ages of 6 upwards, helping with speech therapy in one particular case, in order to enable the child to catch up with the missed curriculum due to earlier speech and communication difficulties. I have also got experience in tutoring and coaching towards the Y6 SATS, in order to support with entry into private education.
My teaching experience has enabled me to work in a number of outstanding schools (Ofsted rated), all of which have been fully comprehensive mixed gender secondaries.
I would be happy to provide more information on my teaching background, along with proof of DBS checks etc., upon request.
Aside from my professional credentials, I am an approachable, honest and hard-working individual, who finds it easy to build positive working relationships with my students, in order to get the best results possible. I would be more than happy to arrange an informal meeting, to discuss any finer details and to introduce myself, prior to any more formal agreement.

I graduated in English Literature & Creative Writing from MMU with a 1st Class Hons in 2019. Since then I’ve continued writing Songs and Poetry, as well as helping friends with Proofreading and Co-Editing for an independent cultural magazine. I love reading and writing and I can talk confidently about a wide range of literature, including the standard Secondary School texts.
I spent 2 years from 16-18 as a Teaching Assistant in Hebrew for Primary School age children. In March of this year I started tutoring English GCSE for 3 different students. I developed a positive relationship with students and their parents and helped enhance confidence going into exams. We’re still waiting on results but I was glad to have helped a student achieve a Grade 6 in their Oral exam despite English not being their first language! I’m looking forward to developing my experience and not only teaching students but learning from them too.
I will tailor our sessions based on your specific goals and I will listen to the students to hear if they are struggling with anything in particular.
Sessions will be driven by discussion so as to facilitate a deeper and broader understanding of texts and ideas. I like to let students lead the conversation and tell me about what they’re studying before we look at expanding on their knowledge. I encourage students to be open and opinionated, creative and critical.
I make sure to get to know the student on a personal level and find out about their interests. This is important in establishing a relaxed and trusting environment, and it also means that the tasks I set and analogies I provide can remain engaging and relatable.
If there are specific academic goals, we will do a close reading of the assessment objectives in which I can help explain difficult terms and translate these into our particular situation, identifying where the student is at, and working out where we can improve. All the while, I will make sure this feels achievable to the student and never overwhelming.
I will bring in other interesting example texts to discuss, often starkly different and maybe more modern than the texts on the school www.*** is useful in prompting new discussions when the student may be feeling a bit bored of the set texts and needing something fresh. Hopefully, these texts can cultivate an enjoyment of literature that will be beneficial to the student’s mindset. This will also develop the vital skill of preparing for exams with unseen texts and increasing students’ confidence.
The tasks that I set can include relaxed, free-flowing text-based discussion, fun free-thinking Creative Writing prompts, structured revision and grammar practice, and more, depending on goals and learning style.
Building and maintaining confidence will be integral to our sessions and I will do everything to make sure the student feels comfortable and ready for all their assessments, and that despite pressures and anxieties, they are always on a good steady path.
