My career has been as a learning and development specialist with 30 years in an airlines, and a rich background of 20 years as a private tutor, successfully coaching students up to GCSE level.
As a tutor, I have taught students from grade 6 to GCSE Level, and in my profession as an instructor conducted classroom training and hands-on workshop sessions for pilot, mechanic and communication trainees and technical apprentices aged 18 – 23 years. Experienced IT trainer in MS Windows, MS Office and other software.
Delivering engaging sessions with clear learning objectives that encouraged positive participation; motivating high school students and young adults succeed in education, and achieve self-independence. During my current course I have led teaching groups of young children in regards to maintaining good oral health care alongside volunteering as a reading assistant during my Secondary school days. I myself have benefited from tutoring during GCSE's and A-levels and believe I understand what techniques help on exam day. My method entails working through real exam questions with my students until they are confident and are no longer afraid to tackle the most testing questions. At this point I go onto challenge my students with questions that may present as curve balls to boost their confidence and intrigue them to approach challenges positively. I would be looking to tutor in Chemistry and Biology at GCSE and below as my previous and current degree are based around the two core subjects.

Having studied Natural Sciences at Cambridge University alongside coaching the university football team I chose to go into teaching as I enjoyed combining my science knowledge with my ability to explain methods to young people.
