MY STORY
I am currently a grade-one “outstanding” teacher in my present school, and have been delivering KS3, GCSE and A Level English, Maths and History in the secondary and sixth-form sectors for the past 16 years, in which time my results have far surpassed national pass rates. Moreover, due to these outstanding results and innovative teaching methods, I have served as Assistant Head of Department; helping us to be awarded an internal grade 1 “outstanding” rating for the 6 years in which I held the post. Furthermore, I also have extensive experience as an “Advanced Practitioner”-tasked with turning around failing cohorts in some of the UK’s toughest classrooms, as well as my time as an examiner for a variety of GCSE/A Level exam boards.
Moreover, due to this long history of being a stand-out professional in the education sector, my advice has been sought out for occasional media and radio appearances for discussions on educational policy, whilst also being head-hunted to tutor the children of prominent public figures including Premiership footballers, Olympic athletes, luminaries of the business world, and even the family of a Nobel Prize winner for a month-which was awesome!
Furthermore, in also being an accomplished property developer with my own UK real-estate portfolio and honorary co-founder of a former property company alongside my partner, I have acted as a business mentor to Year 11 students on entrepreneurship, and how to begin their own journey in property investment, which has seen me guide some of the UK’s brightest new generation of business leaders.
In my remaining spare time, I am currently engaged in the pre-reading for the start of my future PHD in International Relations, during which I will be studying the geopolitics of any superpower conflict over Taiwan. Furthermore, I enjoy travelling extensively in our second home of Tuscany with my young family, supporting Manchester United, playing the drums, and playing the PlayStation (although not as much as I used to, these days!)

TUTORING EXPERIENCE
I have a broad range of experience turning around struggling students in some of the UK’s toughest classrooms, as well as challenging high achieving learners in the pursuit of academic excellence. In my teaching and tutoring career thus far, I have taught across the curriculum age-ranges (7-18 years), as well as undergraduate and postgraduate level students, and specialise in teaching troubled learners lacking confidence, whilst pushing very bright pupils.
Since I began teaching at my institution, English pass-rates received a 25% upwards leap in the opening two years and my tutoring pass grades in my subjects of English, maths and history have been outstanding, so that the vast majority of my classes/tutees are now passing with strong academic grades, and attaining entry to prestigious preparatory schools and/or universities. During last academic year, my tutees enjoyed superb results in English, Maths, History and the 11+, with 96% reaching their target minimum grade, and 68% exceeding this mark, entering prestigious institutions such as the University of Durham, University of Heidelburg and Bromsgrove School, as well as world-class employers such as Rolls Royce. Therefore, over my career as a “super-tutor” so far, I am proud to have delivered over 15,000 lessons across 1000 students within 32 countries, from the UK to Hong Kong.
I also have considerable mentoring expertise, in having built my own UK property portfolio currently valued at £2.75 million from scratch, I have mentored many adult and teenage entrants into property investing, guiding their purchases and renovations to the overall value of £14 million, and counting. TUTORING APPROACH
Besides enjoying superb results, my pupils benefit from a relaxed yet challenging atmosphere, with high commitment being expected of them and this has shown to bring both personal and academic growth, which is always pleasing to see. Moreover, in strengthening self-esteem and exciting the minds of my students, to equip them with the skills they need to excel in later life, I seek to provide them with only the finest education possible.
In terms of my lesson delivery, I always strive to be on the cutting-edge of education in use of teaching resources and methods. Therefore, my approach to tutoring makes use of the techniques of “blended learning”, utilising advanced video-conferencing software, modern presentational packages such as Prezi, powerful virtual learning environments and resourced by well-known educational companies, all supported by online platforms provided by GCSE Bitesize, amongst others. This constant innovation was perhaps best illustrated by my recent use of computer games as a learning tool, which led to some of my classes’ GCSE English creative writing being utilised by exam boards as exemplars to share across the UK, in which they were inspired by video games such as Halo and Mass Effect to attain grade 9s.
In light of this dedication to using Smart tech to deliver a first-class education, throughout my teaching career in inner-city schools and sixth-forms, I have become known for never leaving any learner behind, whilst using creative methods in covering the curriculum in an accessible and enjoyable way.
Needless to say, I passionately believe that education should be a joy, not a chore, and I always do my best to ensure this for each and every one of my students, both in the classroom and online.

About the lesson
I teach one, one and a half and two hour lessons and use questioning to encourage deeper thinking to access top grades in English. I have previously taught Romeo and Juliet, Macbeth and Much Ado About Nothing; The Sign of the Four and A Christmas Carol; An Inspector Calls and both Power and Conflict and Love and Relationships poetry. I have also taken part in marking AQA English Literature Paper 2 as an examiner and will be marking Language Paper 1 this year.

I'm autistic, diagnosed since the age of 14, and so I have many experiences with other autistics and I frequently helped out with the Special Educational Needs department at my high school/sixth form. I'm a published author of horror short stories, as well as having featured on panels at FantasyCon 2023 and SciFi Weekend 2023, with more stuff in the works. My subjects at A-Level were English Lit. (AQA), Theatre Studies (Edexcel), and Religious Studies (OCR). My high school had an internal mentoring scheme, where I helped 2 GCSE students with their English, the skills for which help with Latin and Greek immensely. For Ancient Greek, I taught a GCSE student from scratch for about 2 years, and as such created resources from scratch and would adjust my lessons on a weekly basis. For Latin, I helped the same student on a regular basis with their Latin, but at A-Level I was also asked by my Head of Classics to help the Y8s who'd joined late in the term by taking them out of lessons and catching them up on thr basic Latin skills they'd have missed. Additionally, my love for Classical languages and English extended to me doing JACT's Durham Summer School between L6 and U6. That, apart from being an enjoyable time in itself and which is highly recommendable, exposed me to a lot of different teaching styles, and gave me great in-depth knowledge of the languages and the culture.
I have been teaching English for more than 16 years, and tutoring privately for about 14 years. I have developed excellent relationships with my tutees and their parents, and really take a personal interest in how I can help them specifically. I enjoy the process of tutoring: getting to understand exactly what my tutees need and helping them to grow in confidence to stretch themselves to their full potential.
