We are a Cambridge-based company that offers expert, bespoke remote or in-person tuition for GCSE, A-Level, Common Entrance exams, ELAT and university preparation. We offer rich and proven experience of achieving excellent results for students as well as a range of teaching styles and situations to suit your specific needs.
T. is composed of teachers and tutors who have all taught at high-achieving Cambridge schools and offer expert, academic understanding of how to help students achieve their fullest potential.
We ONLY work with qualified teachers as our tutors. They have years of classroom experience, including as Head of Departments and Assistant Headteachers, to support your child in their studies.
T. only works with tutors who also work with the major exam boards (AQA, OCR, EdExcel, iGCSE) as examiners, moderators, team leaders. Not only do our tutors know their subject thoroughly, they know the precise requirements examiners look for in exam papers.
All of our tutors graduated from Russell Group universities, including Oxford, Cambridge, York and UCL and have more than demonstrated their expertise in their track record of teaching.
Unlike most tutor companies, we only work with qualified teachers that have supported the well-being of hundreds of pupils, so we are ideally placed to meet any of your child's additional needs.

English Literature Teacher
An English teacher of 12 years experience in the secondary setting, currently working with key stage 3 and 4 students, I have been tutoring in person and remotely for nearly 20 years. I am experienced at tailoring individual lessons to help your student to make progress and to support their understanding of key skills and the GCSE examination in both English Literature and English Language.
As a previous head of year seven, I am also skilled in working with students making the transition from key stage 2 to 3.

I have now been a full time tutor for four years with Tutor Hunt- please look at my profile there as this is where you can find my reviews and ratings. I have just recently switched to TutorExtra.
I really enjoy getting to know students and working with them to support them in achieving their goals, which is very rewarding. I am reliable and friendly, as well as having a lot of experience working with many different students. I have really good subject knowledge, both in E. Language and E. Literature, but I also enjoy learning from my students, who can be very inspiring, especially when learning about literature and poetry.
In my work as an examiner, I have marked thousands of papers and this gives me a real insight into the best approaches to take to achieve the highest grade possible.

Originally, I am from Germany, but I have lived and studied in the UK for almost 5 years now. I have an undergraduate degree in English Literature, where I was awarded a prize for having achieved the highest marks in my year, and a Master’s in Comparative Literature.
As you can tell, languages have been one of my passions for years and as I am approaching my academic career, I want to share this excitement for languages and literatures with you and help you feel confident. Aside from being a native speaker in German and fluent in English, I have learned multiple languages in a classroom-based setting over the years. I have had French at school and university level, and I am still taking classes in Mandarin Chinese. I know what it means to learn a foreign language, both the exciting as well as the challenging parts. These experiences are the very foundation of the way I teach, which is individually tailored to my students’ needs and interests. We can focus on conversational English grammar, but I also have experience in writing applications for universities, cover letters and doing practice interviews. At university level, I teach topics related to World Literature, Postcolonialism and Comparative Literature. Let me know what you want to learn, and I will tailor our lessons specifically to your requests.

English Literature Teacher
Bury Saint Edmunds, England
Qualified Oxford graduate - degree in education and English.
Over 20 years experience as a teacher of English, leader of English departments and Literacy co-ordinator.
I started my career teaching children with special needs and specialised in those with emotional, social and behavioural difficulties. This was my specialsilst graduate study subject and led to my first management and leadership responsibilities.
My first job was teaching a class of 11-12 year olds who had not managed to achieve a national curriculum level in English and maths in year 6. By the end of year 7, they all achieved at least a level 3, with most acheiving a level 4 or 5. My value added was the highest in the school.
I learned through experience the power of small group work rather than simply 1-1, but led by inspirational leadership: builidng trust, self-confidence and the layering of skills to support their individual learning which is why I encourage group tutoring as the most powerful way to learn outside of regular class learning.

I am an experienced, qualified teacher and tutor of 20+ years. I am educated to master's level and have expereince teaching and tutoring primary and preparatory school pupils (ages 6 - 13). I can provide home learning support in all primary subjects as well as specialist English tuition. I have had success preparing pupils for SATs and entrance examinations for independent schools, particularly in Cambridge, (United Kingdom), though I am also familiar with Cheltenham schools. I tailor sessions to the individual child's interests and needs, and work with pupils and parents to meet their desired goals, whether these be to build confidence, to develop creativty or to begin entrance exam preparation in earnest. I usually set a short piece of homework at the end of each session and review this with the pupil in the following session.
I am currently working only online via Skype and Zoom to deliver lessons but will also consider other mutually agreeable, secure platforms.
My basic rate is £30 per hour but this may be adjusted up to £35 or down to £25 depending upon the age and number of students, the work involved and any fees charged to me to facilitate tutoring.
Return to School or Transition Support - I can provide educational support for children returning to school in September after a significant time out of a formal educational environment. I can also support those children making important transitions between key stages or who are adjusting to the pace of work in a new school.
Manuscripts and dissertations (master's level) - I offer a proof-reading (typing, spelling and punctuation) and basic editing (grammar, consistency and clarity) service and quote for this on an individual basis.
SCIENCE COURSES - I'd like to recommend the highly successful and talented 'Andrew B'. Contact him via www.*** Please see my gallery for his up to date group and 1:1 course list.
Most of my work comes to me by word-of-mouth recommendation but in April 2020 I also created this page on TutorExtra and so currently have only one review.
I can be easily and quickly contacted via this site or by email: ***@*** Please simply send me a message if you'd like to find out more. I'm very happy to discuss an arrangement that will work well for you.

I have worked as a moderator, question setter and examiner for 3 different Boards over the past 20 years. I am up to date with the new specifications for English Language, English Literature, and English Language and Literature. I have taught all these recently at my sixth form college, MPW Cambridge, where I teach one to one. I am based in Cambridge and would prefer to teach face-to-face rather than online, though I can do both.

English Literature Tutoring Centre
Tutor Doctor Cambridge started in August 2010 providing 1:1 in-home tutoring in and around Cambridge. Since then we have grown and grown and have worked with over 2000 students in that time and also increasingly now work directly with schools who use our services to enable them to provide specific students with the tailored help we can provide. We set up in Norwich in 2021 in order to provide our services to students and schools in Norfolk. We tailor-make our service at every stage : an in-depth meeting with our families or school contacts provides the insights to enable us to find a tutor who matches the student’s needs: if the child really clicks with the tutor, they will get so much more from each session. All our tutors are carefully selected in person, we gain references and DBS checks and we seek tutors who not only know their subject of course, but have a passion for helping people learn. Our offices are in Saffron Walden where our admin and support team are based, with tutoring being carried out within a 10-15 mile radius of Cambridge and Norwich.
