We have dedicated staff who are well experienced and trained to teach various year groups. In SLASA, we have a warm and friendly atmosphere to encourage children to learn in a safe environment. All of our courses are personalised to meet the National Curriculum and Curriculum for Excellence.
We pride ourselves with teaching children the most efficient ways of learning and boosting their confidence in their school work. We tailor our teachers according to their subject specialism so that they can teach our students with the best knowledge possible. We have previously helped children with entrance exams into Nottingham High School and other private schools within Nottinghamshire as well as help with SATS, GCSEs and A levels. Our dedicated help has proven to help children with low self-esteem and learning difficulties around other children in order to improve their confidence as a young person. We have many locations all over Nottingham providing home tuition, grouped learning and 1 to 1 sessions according to your needs.
I am an experienced tutor who has been teaching English to students for over ten years. I specialise in KS3 and GCSE however also have many KS2 and A-Level students, too. I am very familiar with the different exam boards, specifically Edexcel, AQA and OCR. I an NTP qualified tutor with a fully enhanced DBS. I work closely with various agencies and councils, and local high schools in Nottingham, tutoring students individually and in groups. I also work with students with additional needs, from learning diabilities to behavioural challenges.
I am passionate about reading and writing. I aim to encourage students to strive for their best, to gain a deeper understanding of texts and to improve their writing skills so that their confidence flourishes.
I run various creative writing groups for different ages, and also offer intensive week long tuition for students who need to catch up in specific areas.

I am an experienced teacher, having taught Year 6 for two years and Year 2 for seven years. Studying both the English Language, Literature and Drama at A-Level has helped me gain critical analysis, research, and essay-writing skills. Studying Drama has had a huge impact on my life. For our devised performance, we decided to concentrate on women and how they are degraded and disrespected. Our piece was dedicated to women killed due to male violence. Drama has given me the skills for teaching as it has taught me how to deal well with ever-changing circumstances, teamwork, and keep myself and others motivated. Not everything always goes according to plan; therefore, being able to adapt to different situations is highly useful. I believe that keeping motivated is vital in education; when someone does not have any motivation, it can take a toll on others around them, too. I have a positive personality that can captivate individuals effectively while maintaining a professional manner. I was a part of the RAFAC for 4 years, encouraging me to strive for perfection. During these years, I completed several coa singer and leader, devising myurses, including leadership, health and safety, first aid, cyber and radio and DofE; these have all helped me to learn valuable life skills such as teamwork, mental agility, and the importance of being a respectful, upstanding member of the community.

I was a police officer for 26 years and spent the final 7 years of my service as a trainer. I subsequently took a CELTA course and earned the qualification to teach English as a Foreign Language. I have taught at a number of Summer and Easter schools in the UK, and undertaken short contracts at language schools in Vietnam and Mexico.
During the COVID 19 lockdown I volunteered as an online teacher for the school in Vietnam, giving them one 90 minute lesson a week from home using Microsoft Teams.
I have also tutored several adults on a one-to-one basis and will always adapt both the content and style of lesson to suit the needs of the learner. I am happy to help for short term goals, for example IELTS or the Driving Theory Test, long term ambitions or just conversational English as required.

Working in secondary school almost 17 years (local school and overseas) granted me valuable opportunities to teach a variety of courses, including EAL English, Business Studies, Liberal Studies (Humanities), Economics, Geography and Integrated Business.
