I am a strict, to the point style teacher. The nature of my work in education has prepared me for a position in tutoring. My interest in business and economics stimulated me to design the economics curriculum for the year in my school within my first term of teaching. From doing this I have developed the skills in how to teach most effectively to students with different types of learning styles. I have been educated at two Russel Group universities which has allowed me to get top notch education in both receiving and learning how to deliver education. As someone with dyslexia I understand how hard it can be for students to excel in school with limited support. I aim to fill the gap where the education system has failed students. Many teachers are not able to do this but, I have built up the resources to support students who need this extra support to get them to the top grades. Alongside with these resources that I have prepared I also have a planned strategy when teaching and found that this led to many positive student outcomes.

I started my career as a business person in the corporate world and gained very hands-on experience in various start-ups, in manager positions.
However my first career was a financial professional but I was probably born with the skills of teaching and training and the desire to educate.
I have a couple of years of tutoring, teaching experience and working full time for an international school since September 2021. I have lots of experience managing child behavior and learning problems and encouraging them in a positive way.
I am trained in Calmer Parenting, have a Life Coaching and a Counselling Diploma.
My strenght are:
- Observing children and identifying their strengths, problems, or areas for improvement, and achieving results.
- Distinguished ability to quickly restore understanding.
- Interacting with parents, understanding how the child is performing at home and whether there are any relevant conditions prevailing at home that may be affecting the child's behaviour, and advising parents on how to assist the child.
My calm, warm, caring personality is a special asset working with children, such as my passion for education and children.

I currently lead the Social Sciences department at a topperforming state school, voted in the Times (2017) as the best state school in the country. I love teaching and work tirelessly to meet the needs of those who I am fortunate to work with. I have two young boys and a partner who also teaches. I love the outdoors and cycle 100 miles a week for my commute to school. I was fortunate enough to spend two years cycling around the world, so would like to think I am both patient and resilient in equal measure.
I have over 10 years teaching experience, teaching Business and Economics GCSE and A Level. I was awarded 'outstanding' in my trainee year and went straight onto complete an MA in education. I spent 3 years in a challenging school setting before being invited to return to my current school where I originally trained. My roles have been varied including head of enterprise, head of year 12 & 13 and my current role as head of Social Sciences (Business, Economics & Sociology). I have recently completed a secondment with the Senior Leadership team focusing on effective revision strategies, which involved implementing a whole school initiative. I am also an examiner for A Level Business.
I would take a flexible approach dependent on the needs of the student. I have a range of effective revision/retrieval strategies which could be used in the session, along with a wealth of teaching resources which I would be happy to share. I would make sure that the sessions are interesting, interactive and with a focus on any misconceptions the student may have. I would be happy to mark work in between sessions and showcase model answers to help improve exam technique where required.
