I currently lead the Social Sciences department at a topperforming state school, voted in the Times (2017) as the best state school in the country. I love teaching and work tirelessly to meet the needs of those who I am fortunate to work with. I have two young boys and a partner who also teaches. I love the outdoors and cycle 100 miles a week for my commute to school. I was fortunate enough to spend two years cycling around the world, so would like to think I am both patient and resilient in equal measure. I have over 10 years teaching experience, teaching Business and Economics GCSE and A Level. I was awarded 'outstanding' in my trainee year and went straight onto complete an MA in education. I spent 3 years in a challenging school setting before being invited to return to my current school where I originally trained. My roles have been varied including head of enterprise, head of year 12 & 13 and my current role as head of Social Sciences (Business, Economics & Sociology). I have recently completed a secondment with the Senior Leadership team focusing on effective revision strategies, which involved implementing a whole school initiative. I am also an examiner for A Level Business. I would take a flexible approach dependent on the needs of the student. I have a range of effective revision/retrieval strategies which could be used in the session, along with a wealth of teaching resources which I would be happy to share. I would make sure that the sessions are interesting, interactive and with a focus on any misconceptions the student may have. I would be happy to mark work in between sessions and showcase model answers to help improve exam technique where required. |
