Hello, I'm Vincent N., a passionate mathematician and educator with a diverse background in Actuarial Science and Music. I hold a Master's degree (MSc) in Actuarial Science from Heriot-Watt University and a Bachelor's degree (BSc Hons) in Mathematics with Actuarial Science from the University of Southampton. During my time at Southampton, I initially pursued a Master's in Music (MMus), but unfortunately, due to an injury, I had to transfer to a Postgraduate Certificate (PGCert) in Music.
After completing my undergraduate studies, I furthered my academic journey at Cardiff University, where I earned a Master of Philosophy (MPhil) in Mathematics. My research focused on "The Risk Models with Non-Local Poisson Processes," and I was fortunate to have Prof. Nikolai Leonenko as my supervisor. This research culminated in a published paper titled "Risk process with mixture of tempered stable inverse subordinators: Analysis and synthesis" in the journal Random Operators and Stochastic Equations.
Beyond academia, I have had the opportunity to share my knowledge and passion for mathematics as a tutor in the Maths support service at Cardiff University. In this role, I assisted students across the university with various mathematical challenges, helping them grasp complex concepts and excel in their studies.
Music has also been an integral part of my life, and I have honed my skills as a pianist and organist over the years. As a freelance Piano/Organ Teacher, I created customized teaching materials to cater to the unique needs of each student, fostering entertaining and engaging learning environments. Additionally, I served as an Organist at St. Nicolas' Church, North Stoneham, preparing and accompanying the choir for Sunday Eucharists and other services.
During my time as Acting Sub-organist at St. John's College, Southsea, I planned and played for college festive services, accompanied the choir during trips across the UK, and provided coaching to young organists. As an Organ Scholar at the same college, I played for regular services alongside the junior organ scholar while mentoring and coaching other aspiring young organists.
Apart from my academic and musical accomplishments, I am multilingual, being a native speaker of Chinese (Cantonese), fluent in Mandarin, and proficient in English. Moreover, I possess Grade 8 proficiency in Piano, Organ, and music theory, which further enriches my ability to bridge the worlds of mathematics and music.

Alice Elizabeth D. BEM GTCL LTCL (PftT) FISM (née Larner) is a popular piano and singing teacher and is the Musical Director of the University Plymouth Choral Society. She moved down from Aberdeenshire to Penzance in Cornwall in 2017 (after working there since 1990) leaving her post as Musical Director of Haddo House Choral & Operatic Society and the two award winning young Haddo Voices choirs. She was also the founder and Artistic Director of the Haddo Arts Festival.
A fully qualified conservatoire trained pianist and singer, Alice teaches in Penzance Cornwall. She has an unprecedented success rate with pupils of all ages in exams, auditions and performances but also teaches pupils for fun and is adaptable to all needs.
She has over 30 years experience of teaching aspiring musicians and has helped many gain access into conservatoires, colleges, universities and stage schools.

I am a very patient piano teacher based in Prestwich near Bury and Manchester. I have almost 15 years experience in teaching both children and adults. I follow the ABRSM syllabus, and pupils may enter for exams if they wish or learn just for fun. I also teach music theory. All lessons are taught on a one-to-one basis. Daphne was born in Hong Kong. She started to learn piano at age of five. And she gained the Diploma of ABRSM in piano perform and piano accompaniment in early years, she holds Licentiate of the Trinity College of Music London (ATCL) in piano performance, she also gets singing grade eight of the ABRSM, She is studying in the Bachelor of Music at Kingston University in Hong Kong University , and she gets Professional Diploma in Chinese University, Diploma Program in Performance Practice .
She went to Poland to further her study. She spent years visiting masterclasses and sit in lessons in different academies. In year 2000, She performed with Allegro Singers in Salzburg.
Years before she was attracted by Prof. Stephen Wong's was attracted by his flawless piano technique , and beautiful melodies she decided to study from him as a life~long teacher.
In recent years, Daphne has been active as a music educator, performer and accompanies. She actively performed with local chamber orchestra in charity concerts, tours at local kindergartens and primary schools, promoting classical music to Hong Kong audience and raising funds for charity.
Joe began his musical journey at the age of six. Initially following the classical tradition, he completed his Grade 8 qualification before applying for higher education. Joe studied at the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama between 2014 and 2016, under Mei Yi Foo. This period saw development in his command of the instrument and skills in accompaniment, solo, and chamber performance.
Forever drawn to a range of genres, an interest in jazz music naturally emerged. Joe joined the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire jazz programme in 2018, where he studied 1:1 with John Turville and Liam Noble. He also received band coaching from tutors such as John O’Gallagher and Percy Pursglove. These experiences helped to shape his approach to harmony, improvisation, and group playing. Joe continues to study and explore jazz theory in his own time.
In addition to his musical commitments, Joe runs Installed Events: a small business that supplies entertainment and AV hire for weddings, parties, and corporate events. He is also an experienced live sound engineer, having toured the UK and Republic of Ireland with artists such as Marty Wilde, Ultra 90s, Psychic Sally, Des O’Connor & Jimmy Tarbuck, Jethro, Bye Bye Baby, and The Wurzels.

Claudia is a classical pianist, singer, teacher and performer. Her passion for music started at the age of 4 when she enrolled on the Yamaha Programme and went on to complete the JMC, JXC and JAC courses. As well as her piano qualifications, she also studied classical violin, voice and recorder, gaining several awards at musical festivals/concerts, Worthing and Chichester music festivals, and also studied the flute. Claudia went on to complete a BA, then her Masters in Music at Chichester University, while also gaining useful teaching experience through the West Sussex Music Service.
Claudia joined Matrix Arts Centre in 2015 after completing her Masters Degree, teaching the Junior Music Course and also taking individual piano lessons. Offering lessons in person or online, I have been performing professionally for 38 years and teaching for 26 years. I was initially taught piano by my grandfather, the renowned concert pianist and head of piano at RSAMD, Jack Wight www.*** I then completed my studies under Ms Anna Rastopchina. I currently play in an 8-piece function band as well as a jazz ensemble. I am also the musical director for shows held in the Clyde Auditorium and the Dumbarton theatre every spring. I teach piano & keyboard to all ages and stages. Roughly half my students study for the ABRSM piano grades, and so far my pupils (over 200 candidates) have a 100% pass rate. My other students play for enjoyment, learning various styles and technique. I also prepare students for the school curriculum Nat 4/5, Higher Music and Advanced Higher Music. I teach classical piano, jazz, pop, blues, music theory and composition. I tailor all lessons to the individual needs and aspirations of the student, employing various teaching styles. I also teach some pupils to play by ear, as well as improvisational skills, if requested. I prefer to teach from my own house, where I have a beautiful Yamaha U3 piano, as well as a Nord digital 88 piano, Roland Juno DS keybpoard/synthesizer, vintage Hammond organ and Leslie speaker and recording equipment. Lessons are generally an hour long, except for young students, where I would recommend a shorter lesson of 45 or 30 minutes. I offer online lessons via Skype or Zoom which is suitable for some of my students
