Hi, my name is Vicky and I'm an ex-head of science at a secondary school in London. I have also been a tutor for the last 4 years. I've been teaching for just over 6 years with experience on multiple exam boards and teaching all specialisms of science. I am currently teaching myself how to code and looking for a career change, however, I am still tutoring as I love how rewarding it is!
I gained my PGCE in 2017 and started my role as a science teacher in July 2017. I have taught all three sciences for both AQA and Edexcel, and chemistry up to A-Level. I am a Biochemistry professional, having studied at the University of Oxford, and graduated with a Masters degree in molecular and cellular biochemistry. I have solid background (7 years experience) with chemistry (organic, inorganic, physical) and biochemistry for both A-levels and University level.
My preferred method of tutoring is the Oxford tutorial method, that works via questions that aim to develop critical thinking skills in the student, and an ability to follow a line of reason from scratch building-up to complex arguments. This is especially useful in dealing with the more complex questions set by the exams, requiring proofs and a solid inference pattern.
