I have been tutoring since 2012 and have tutored over 1000 hours of maths, science, Law and English language. I have a PGCE and work as a full time maths and physics teacher in an OFSTED outstanding secondary school near Hereford. I have recently been turoing many A level maths and physics students as well as university level Law students. Please see below the latest feedback I received from a lesson observation of an online 1:1 lesson. Tom taught a lesson on quadratic sequences. He started by establishing the student’s confidence on the subject and then shared his screen to display a well prepared series of whiteboard slides. The student was asked to identify the relationship between a series of numbers leading to establishing the nth term. These initial sequences provided the base for the future slides, which contained further, more complex sequences for the student to solve. At each stage, Tom encouraged the student to break down the workings to ensure errors were avoided – he then annotated the whiteboard accordingly. |
