I specialise with working with children who do not enjoy the subject. I try and build a good rapport with the student. Trying to motivate them and see why education is important in general and once a positive a relationship is built I then go in depth with the learning. Initially its about ensuring they have a routine and structure to their learning and the idea being my tuition is to make them an independant learner over a period of time. It does require a lot to do with understanding the student and being compassionate when addressing the underlying issues why they may not enjoy learning maths. Maths is a subject I am very passionate about and my students see that. Some students who do not enjoy maths have built a phobia around the subject and my teaching style is such that it tries to overcome those barriers. My method is teaching the students why they do certain concept first and then show them how to do it. This comes from padeagogy of singapore maths. |
