I am fairly traditional in my approach. My previous pupils - I am recently retired - would describe me as thorough, encouraging and able to develop a strong self belief to succeed in a tricky subject.
Teaching Chemistry for 41 years has given me significant insight into the common conceptual pitfalls that hinder learning. So, first and foremost, I aim to develop a sound conceptual understanding and thereby foster tutees' confidence. Grasping Chemistry is like tackling a jig-saw puzzle: The pattern emerges when the links between the individual parts are apparent; I pride myself in enabling tutees to make these connections. Once the subject foundations are secure we move on to questions, examination technique and past papers. |
