Qualifications: For my A levels I studied at King's College London Mathematics School, the top sixth form in the UK for mathematical education, where I achieved A*s in both A level Maths and Further Maths. I also achieved a grade 9 in GCSE in Maths (I was unfortunately not given the opportunity to take GCSE Further Maths at secondary school but I would still love to teach it). I am currently studying Data Science at The University of Warwick. My course covers a wide range of different mathematical areas, focusing on: - Calculus (sums and integrals) - Linear algebra (vectors and matrices) - Statistics (probabilities, combinatorics and distributions) - Computer science (programming and algorithms)
I have over 100 hours of experience tutoring neighbours and family friends and I have plenty of resources available for any topic that we may need to cover. Subjects: I can teach any topics from Maths or Further Maths at both GCSE and A level. I am also more than happy to help with maths-related content in GCSE Physics, Biology, Computer Science and Economics problems that the student may have. If the student is struggling with any of the following topics then I can provide clear explanations and revision support:
A level Core - Vectors and Matrices - Number Theory - Set Theory - Group Theory - Algebra - Quadratics and Higher-Order Equations - Inequalities - Interpreting Graphs - Sketching Graphs - Sequences and Series - Arithmetic and Geometric Sums - Surds and Indices - Logarithms and Exponentials - Functions and Composite/Inverse Functions - Geometry - Trigonometry and Trig Identities - Calculus (Differentiation & Integration) - Numerical Methods
A level Statistics - Combinatorics - Calculating Probabilities - Probability Distributions - Probability Density Functions (PDFs) - Cumulative Distribution Functions (CDFs) - Hypothesis Testing - Random Variables - Expectation Algebra (Mean, Variance, etc)
A level Mechanics - Kinematics (displacement, velocity, acceleration) - Newton’s Laws of Motion - Forces and Friction - Moments and Equilibrium - Projectiles - Work, Energy, and Power - Impulse and Momentum
A level Further Maths - Complex Numbers and Argand diagrams - Matrices and Matrix Transformations - Matrix Diagonalisation GCSE - Ratio and Proportions - Geometry - Angle Rules - Perimeter, Area, Volume, and Surface Area - Trigonometry - Linear and Quadratic Graphs - Simultaneous Equations - Graphs (speed/time, distance/time) - Transformations and Congruence - Standard Form - Probability Trees and Venn Diagrams - Set Theory - Probabilities
Exam and Interview Technique - Time management - Minimising silly mistakes - Question tackling strategy - Sketching graphs (important for university interviews)
Availability: At the moment, I primarily offer online tutoring due to being a full-time university student. I use zoom.
Methodology: I have found that from both personal experience and working with other students that the best way to learn is not to hear somebody else explain but to feel like you figured it out yourself. That is why I always try to ask thought provoking questions and give clues at what the correct answer / method could be, rather than just saying it straight away. As a student, I know this can be quite frustrating but it is the best way to learn! |
