As a qualified and experienced teacher and tutor, Ben is organised and makes sure that every lesson is a memorable one. He is able to quickly build rapport with students of all ages and establish their individual learning needs whilst remaining both professional and approachable. Ben has over five years of experience teaching in English Language, English Literature, and Media Studies at GCSE. He also can tutor in functional skills (City & Guilds) English and maths from entry 1 to level 2 teaching this qualification from individuals aged 18 to 80. Ben holds a BA in English Literature and Language from Canterbury Christchurch University and completed his PGCE through the University of Hull. He has completed numerous amounts of CPD and additional courses in relation to education for example: - SEND needs and classroom application - advanced safeguarding - functional skills in the workplace - textual analysis in relation to gothic literature Ben is a calm and passionate teacher who endeavours to push 'relational' teaching, making lessons and tutoring sessions personal and relatable to his students. He ejoys a new challenge and working 1-1 with a learner is an excellent way to improve his practice and make sure that each of his tutees has the best possible chance at succeeding in their GCSEs and beyond. It is in vain hope that Ben wants to imbue his learners with a lifelong love of both the English language and all forms of literature. Ben has worked with all age ranges from 11 to 80+ including learners who are particularly challenging. |
