Knowing Portuguese is an asset in today's globalized world, particularly in the labor market. The Portuguese is the 4th most spoken language in the world, the 3rd European language of global expression and the 1st language in the southern hemisphere. 261 million people speak Portuguese in 5 continents and by 2050 there will be 380 million. In recent years, the Portuguese language has emerged globally as a language of business, science and culture and its importance has been highlighted in the media and in scientific studies of global impact.
I started my professional life as a drama teacher because I had completed the course of training actors at the Escola Superior de Teatro e Cinema of the National Conservatory of Lisbon. Later, I was a teacher of French and Portuguese in several preparatory and secondary schools in Lisbon. I was a professor at the University of the Azores as well where I taught subjects in the area of Sociology. Finally, I returned to primary and secondary education and I have been teaching Portuguese, History and Geography of Portugal. As I have lived in an area where there are many foreigners, I have also helped them to learn Portuguese. |
