I studied for degrees in Mathematics at Keele University and Oxford University and have over 35 years teaching experience in Private Schools, Grammar Schools and Colleges.
I am also a tutor for Oxford Home Schooling and for The Open University, and am an approved tutor for tutorsandexams.
I have had articles published in "Mathematics in Schools" and several worksheets on teachitmaths.
I have provided private tuition also for over 35 years now, and have had literally hundreds of successful students credited to my record over that time.
I provide a very professional service and tutor not only those at school, but also to adults.
I pride myself in providing first class tuition through my years of experience and excellent subject knowledge. Having set many exams over the years I teach students precisely how to answer exam questions to maximise their marks.

I source most of my tutees via word of mouth recommendation and through my facebook page Milborne Maths. This academic year, I had a few resit students approach me therefore some slots have opened up mid way through the year now they have sat their exams which is unusual! I am usually fully booked by now and having to turn people away - so you may be in luck!
I use the zoom platform to host my lessons and have an online calendar that students usually book from.

Before I started as a teacher in school, I had worked for many years as a tutor, concentrating on Gcse and A level History for a wide range of different exam boards. Since 2001 I have taught history in all years from 7 to 13 in an independent school and have gained extensive experience of preparing pupils for exams as well as stimulating their interest in the subjects taught. I always aim to stretch them as well as support them in their learning and to promote enjoyment of the learning process while pushing for the highest possible level of attainment. I have extensive experience as an examiner, particularly for Edexcel/Pearson and also as a moderator for coursework and this has informed my teaching.
With many years helping to provide pastoral support as a sixth form tutor, I have gained valuable experience in addressing the needs and problems faced by young people facing some of the biggest challenges of their lives. I have also given help preparing for university applications and have provided interview practice, including for Oxbridge applications. Together with this, I have supervised ambitious sixth formers as they navigate the demands of EPQs.

I have many years experience of teaching A-level Chemistry and Biology at Sixth form Colleges in Somerset and London. I am currently teaching GCSE and A-level Chemistry at a private school in Dorset.
I prefer to conduct the first two-three sessions with students in person (I'm happy to travel to clients houses) as this allows me to get to know the students better. I'm offering my services principally because I genuinely enjoy helping young people to achieve their potential (rather than to earn money), hence my preference for in-person tutoring. After 2-3 initial sessions, I'm happy to either switch to online sessions or continue with in person sessions (or a mixture of both). Hi there! I'm Pip. I'm currently a secondary school Geography teacher at a school in Dorset, teaching KS3, GCSE and A Level. I'm originally from Northumberland, but have been living in Dorset since 2018. Prior to embarking on a teaching career in 2017, I worked for 8 years in London, for the YMCA, The Scout Association and Raleigh International, running volunteering programmes for young people.
