I source most of my tutees via word of mouth recommendation and through my facebook page Milborne Maths. This academic year, I had a few resit students approach me therefore some slots have opened up mid way through the year now they have sat their exams which is unusual! I am usually fully booked by now and having to turn people away - so you may be in luck!
I use the zoom platform to host my lessons and have an online calendar that students usually book from.
Please message and I shall do my best to accommodate both of our needs and hopefully we are suited for maths lessons together!
I'm enthusiastic about science and have a specific interest in Astrophysics. I have a PhD in Physics and Astronomy from the University of Southampton.
To fund my PhD, I received a Mayflower scholarship, which required me to teach 25% of my time there. I assisted teaching of several different courses ranging from first to fourth year physics including maths, laboratories, electromagnetism etc.
I also helped to mark problem sheets, exams, course work as well as presentations. Moreover, I was a tutor and had regular tutorials with my tutees. I guided them academically whilst also making sure that they were settling in well into university life.
As part of my teaching experience at university, I have taught students with a range of abilities and from different cultural backgrounds, including non-native speakers.
I am experienced online tutor in Maths and Science. Sessions are held via Zoom and I use a writing tablet to go through ideas, concepts and calculations. I always adapt the content of my sessions to suit the different exam boards and curricula.
One-to-one and group sessions as well as online lessons available.
I understand that each person has a different learning style and I adapt my tutoring sessions to reflect this. I'm friendly and personable and aim to put every student at ease because learning shouldn't be stressful. I'm happy to teach Science and Maths for all age groups ranging from primary school to A-levels or equivalent and Physics up to undergraduate level. I'm also happy to teach German for all age groups as I'm a native speaker.
I hold a current enhanced DBS certificate, volunteer at a local preschool group and have three children of my own.

I first worked for the EARN association located in Paris as a programmer. Then I became the head of an internet service provider doing all the necessary work to keep it going. Programming, managing, etc. I managed databases, web sites, etc. I still do in fact!

Before I started as a teacher in school, I had worked for many years as a tutor, concentrating on Gcse and A level History for a wide range of different exam boards. Since 2001 I have taught history in all years from 7 to 13 in an independent school and have gained extensive experience of preparing pupils for exams as well as stimulating their interest in the subjects taught. I always aim to stretch them as well as support them in their learning and to promote enjoyment of the learning process while pushing for the highest possible level of attainment. I have extensive experience as an examiner, particularly for Edexcel/Pearson and also as a moderator for coursework and this has informed my teaching.
With many years helping to provide pastoral support as a sixth form tutor, I have gained valuable experience in addressing the needs and problems faced by young people facing some of the biggest challenges of their lives. I have also given help preparing for university applications and have provided interview practice, including for Oxbridge applications. Together with this, I have supervised ambitious sixth formers as they navigate the demands of EPQs.
Finally, as a practicing artist with extensive knowledge of art and the context in which it is produced, I have taught the history of art for many years while encompassing the study of painting, sculpture, prints and architecture from many different epochs and locations,

I'm originally from Northumberland, but have been living in Dorset since 2018. Prior to embarking on a teaching career in 2017, I worked for 8 years in London, for the YMCA, The Scout Association and Raleigh International, running volunteering programmes for young people.

I have been an Art & Design teacher in the Southampton area since September 1997. My experience of working as a free-lance artist/illustrator has been an essential skill throughout my teaching career, providing learners with a wider knowledge of creative practice during tutorials and group presentations and giving the student an experienced insight of working as a professional practitioner either after their degree or in terms of work based learning after a sixth form programme.
I have always fostered excellent relationships with my students and particularly prize the strong working relationships I have developed with a range of learners. I also feel in some cases that it is important to develop links with parents allowing them to support and encourage the students further in their education.
Within my time in education I have produced dynamic and creative areas of learning which offer a range of academic and vocational courses where students have experienced studying from level 1 to level 4. I have assisted younger students with their progression from school as well as adult learners into college and onto higher education and employment. I aim to develop students work to meet or exceed the requirements of their expected qualifications, learning goals or employment. I ensure that the students feel happy and confident in their studies. I strongly believe that students should be able to express themselves and understand the world around them. Through their studies students should be able to communicate their thoughts and ideas and demonstrate the development of their practical skills. I am enthusiastic about encouraging students through my pastoral role to research their subjects and their progressionary aims using appropriate resources such as journals, books and appropriate internet sites.
