My goal is to always ensure that my students are enjoying their lessons and what they are learning. Achieving this ensures that my students can gain confidence and independence, and thus they are able to learn independently. I adopt a child centred approach to teaching. I believe each child is unique so therefore teaching strategies need to be adapted to meet the needs of each child. I have 13 years experience with tutoring students from aged 6-18 years old. I have experience tutoring students with autism, learning difficulties and selective mutism.

I use a resource called Microsoft Team which allows video call facility and instant messenger. This allows the student to have access to instant feedback and also virtual face to face lessons. Students also receive online certificates that they can print off at home.
My sessions are engaging, lively and purposeful. I aim to make students feel at ease; I am an experienced classroom teacher of both girls and boys and a parent of a 12 year old so know how to make learning as 'pain-free' as possible. I have experience with students of all abilities and can adapt my delivery and resources to suit your needs.
An experienced GCSE Language examiner, I know exactly how to tackle each question for the English Lang and Lit examinations. I have successfully prepared A-Level students to sit (and achieve an interview in) the Oxbridge ELAT test and my A-Level Literature, Language and Literature students have all achieved their target grades or higher. I am currently working in a school therefore, my availability is only after school and weekends. I am very happy to negotiate a timetable, or paired tutoring sessions so students can work on their English with a friend.

Class Teacher KS2 Woodthorpe Community Primary School - Sheffield September 2006 to April 2019 Class teacher throughout KS 2; even taught combined year groups www.*** , Year 3 and 4. Last 3 years covered PPA and absence throughout KS 2. Emphasis on creating a skills-based curriculum and developing writing and reading attainment. Only child in Sheffield to attain level 6 in reading spent 2 years with me, in years 4 and 5. Behaviour and classroom management particular strengths, as was helping to develop whole school approaches to reading. As union rep helped to promote good relations between teachers and management. One standout aspect was my ability to create child friendly learning objectives and success criteria regarding lesson planning. Personal Description:
I’m a practicing sound artist with a Masters from the Royal College of Art in Sound Design. Sound has always been my passion, incorporating creatively across many types of artistic practice. I studied Fine Art at Brighton achieving a First Class Honours. My thesis at the Royal College of Art was about percussion in social contexts, which was awarded a distinction and published. I am an award wining sound artist (University of Nagoya Prize, 2016) who has exhibited in many prestigious institutions (IRCAM Forum, Paris 2020 & 2021, London Design Biennale 2021). My work communicates science to audiences using sound, particularly young adults and children. Because of this I am often thinking about fun and interesting ways that children and young adults can learn. I continue to work now on sound design, recording and working on personal projects using sound as a medium for enquiry into science and philosophy.

I'm a professional bassist who plays a variety of live gigs, including functions and originals. I have also worked with an eclectic mix of artists in a recording setting. I have 5+ years of teaching experience and a 1st Class Honours Bachelors of Music in Popular Music. I like to make teaching fun and engaging by utilising specific songs to teach certain techniques or necessary basics such as scales. I find that this leads to my students understanding how to use the techniques easier due to having a musical context of where they do and don't work in a genre or individual piece of music. I can help students work towards grades with any examination board though I have more experience with the rockschool grades.
