I specialise in Online English tuition, covering all texts in the GCSE and KS3, along with essay writing practice and exam revision. My services also include online adult functional skills tuition. My mission is to help students become more confident in their English skills and to provide them with the tools and strategies for success.
A little about me in the school setting
My roles have allowed me to build on a range of areas that I have been interested in for some time. My focus on ‘pedagogy’ has been developed towards ‘praxis’ – the idea that one reflects and acts uponp ractice to transform it. What I have learnt is that a narrow focus on the classroom isn’t enough. Instead,an effective system is one which develops productive and synergistic relationships between learners, families, and the community, and that a deep understanding of the context in which you work, the locality and the culture in which learners live is crucial. I believe we have started on exciting journey here proceeding and developing positively on recent Ofsted feedback – building on those to ensure that learning really is a community endeavour in the best possible sense. My ‘curriculum’ will not stop at the door of a classroom, or the school gate but will be a transforming powerhouse for all living in the community. This, in practical terms could be parenting support in the form of coaching and peer support; providing evening classes in basic skills, parental revision classes to help them best assist their child. It could be using the school buildings as a base of local CPD provision, for meetings, for collaboration among local departments.

I am friendly, approachable and enjoy making learning meaningful for pupils. My lessons begin with starting activities to recap the previous learning, identify any misconceptions. Moving onto the main part of the lesson I plan activities promoting fluency in the skill then application to a real-life situation or worded exam-style question. Games and quizzes can be fun and useful in testing rapid recall.
I have been teaching for fifteen years and have taught learners of all abilities, backgrounds and socio-economic circumstances, planning for progression and offering timely feedback. I endeavour to make learning as enjoyable as possible and do my utmost to "make learning stick". I am compassionate and go the extra mile for learners.

I am a confident, outgoing and experienced science teacher specialising in biology. I am also confident in chemistry and physics. I currently teach KS3, GCSE and A-level biology students following the AQA exam board, I am also confident teaching Edexcel and OCR.
I strive to make all of science accessible and enjoyable for students, relating topics to real life, and working through areas student find tough until it clicks for them.
My aim with tutoring is to spend the time with a student, understanding their barriers and working on any area that they need as much as they need until they feel more happy with it. I am fully aware that science can be a barrier for some students and I aim to make the subjects more engaging and approachable. This knowledge and understanding can then be built on using exam questions to cement their understanding and hopefully it is then embedded ready for exams. Looking over exam questions is the best form of revision, but it also is a way to show students how similar questions are year and year and hopefully remove some of fear surrounding GCSEs.
I am a teacher who prides herself on building positive relationships with students, both in the classroom and as a form teacher. I believe these positive relationships are the best way for students to feel confident in their own abilities and bring out the belief that they can do anything.
I have experience in teaching (and tutoring) Years 7-11 in all sciences - Biology, Chemistry, Physics. I offer GCSE tutoring in all three subjects, as well as the combined science GCSE. My specialism is in Biology, and I teach and tutor Biology AS and A level. I have experience in tutoring failing students to help them pass their exams, with quite a few achieving average or above average. My exprience has allowed me to build positive relationships with them, know when to push them, help their confidence and see them shine.
I bring a wealth of experience and resources to my tutoring, which has consistently helped students grasp even the most challenging concepts—especially those they’ve previously struggled with. I tailor my approach based on each student's needs, which may include:
Reviewing key topic knowledge, supported by mini assessments and regular exam-style homework
Developing exam techniques through practice papers and strategies for answering different question types
Providing focused knowledge reinforcement
Teaching effective revision strategies
I have experience teaching GCSE Science across the EdExcel, AQA, and OCR exam boards, and I also teach A-level Biology with a focus on the AQA specification. In addition, I have worked as an exam marker for AQA Biology and Chemistry, which has given me valuable insight into the specific skills, techniques, and language students need to master in order to achieve full marks in exam questions.
All of my students who have worked with me for five months or more have improved by at least two grades above their starting level. The minimum improvement I’ve seen is a one-grade increase for all students.

Tutoring from years 6 to 13 including Further Maths A level
Current Student Feedback Testimonials:
"Neil exceeded all expectations with my son, in just a few months he helped him enormously to achieve a grade he was proud of" L Shaw
“Neil is a brilliant Maths Tutor, and his approach is completely different to what we have experienced before, he challenges both my children and lets them produce the answers as well as pushing them further to their full potential. I am incredibly pleased to endorse Neil and his teaching style” Reena
“I engaged Neil’s services after my daughter in year 11 had done some mocks. Maths was the areas she struggled with the most and didn’t feel confident. She’s in set 2 and doing the higher paper. She felt she was lagging her classmates. Her teachers have predicted her a level 5 but said she may just scrape the grade; Neil came as a recommendation, and it was the best thing we ever did. He is friendly, kind and patient. In just 8 weeks, her confidence has soared, she now understands things that she has previously struggled with. At the end of February, she did a second set of mocks. We have only had one paper back so far, but she’s scored significantly higher marks than before. I am confident Neil can help my daughter achieve a level 6 or higher. Would highly recommend!” Claire
“Neil currently tutors our 15 years old daughter in the build up to her GCSE Mathematics examinations next year. His ability to instil confidence and remove a level of anxiety has helped enormously. Bringing a sense of fun and calm to the subject whilst being prepared to change the plan for the lesson based on struggles that week, has also meant that issues have been addressed real time.
When a topic has been particularly difficult Neil knows when to change tact to remove the pressure and then come at things from a different angle.
Treating our daughter with care and respect whilst praising her for her achievements and breakthrough moments, has without doubt moved her nearer to the results she hopes to attain and for that we’re incredible grateful.
We will continue to work with Neil and would recommend him without hesitation “
Mrs N Jinks
“It isn’t easy finding a good tutor for any age. Neil has been great with my son, working at his pace and identifying the gaps to help him improve his grades at A level Maths, He relates well with my son and has a good working ethic.
Neil keeps me informed of my son’s progress. Considering the prices around Wilmslow, Neil is very reasonable and very good at what he does, which is reflective in my son’s academic performance.
As a parent who has had both kids tutored from primary age, I would highly recommend Neil “

Now I do all my lessons on line, either by Skype, Zoom or any other equivalent .It is cheaper for the pupil, no travelling, so no fuel used, and easier all round as the timings can be changed easily on either side, to suit any sudden problems.
I teach reading music as a given, right from the beginning. Either classical or acoustic but no specific styles, i. e. country, folk, blues etc. No, I will teach you to play properly with tutor books and additional material and with the knowledge gained you will eventually be able to play in whatever style suits you, but I will not teach a style at the lesson.
Having 60 books of guitar music published in 5 different publishers, and having played, arranged, transcribed and written all forms of guitar music since my teens, I am uniquely equipped to teach anyone whether a beginner, or an advanced player or any level in between.
I am often asked to transcribe unpublished classical guitar recordings onto sheet music which I will do happily for a fee, should anyone be interested.
I now have my own classical guitar sheet music and CD review site at www.allclassicalguitar.co.uk and so my working life is completely music based.

I am an experienced English teacher who has worked in secondary schools for the over 20 years. I am also an AQA Lead Moderator and and Adviser to more than 150 schools for English Language A Level. I have Advanced Diplomas (post degree) in Language and Literacy and in Child Development. English Language is my passion though, of course, I have taught GCSE Literature as part of my professional role in school and I love teaching the texts associated with the requirements of the course. I am happy to write specific schemes of work tailored for students' specific needs. I enjoy working with teenagers at both GCSE and A Level though my specialist Language knowledge is particularly relevant to A Level Language students. Increasingly, however, this in depth knowledge is relevant to GCSE English students. I am happy to work with all levels and relish the opportunity to engage with individuals who are seeking to increase their knowledge and understanding of the key requirements for both GCSE and A level courses. During the past year I have worked alongside students from years 7 - 13. I prefer to work online as this allows me to work one to one with pupils from across the country and help them to develop their skills through close monitoring and feedback. My DBS Certificate was renewed on 15 June 2024 and I have a current Child Protection Certificate 2024 both of which are requirements for my position as an English Teacher at a High School. I will make all powerpoints available to students after the classes and will mark and give feedback for work completed after the lessons although homework is optional.

Hello! I’m Eleftheria, originally from Greece and currently living in England for the past 5 years. Growing up in a family immersed in language education—my mother owns an English language school in Greece—I developed a passion for teaching and understanding efficient language acquisition from a young age.
My love for languages led me to pursue a Bachelor's degree in Linguistics and a Master's in Speech and Language Therapy. This educational background equips me with a detailed understanding of linguistic structures and patterns (especially in English and Greek) making my teaching both effective and accessible. I believe that mastering a language requires a holistic approach: learning to read, write, and visualize it, which ultimately simplifies the speaking process.
Lesson Structure:
I recommend at least one 90-minute lesson per week to ensure you see meaningful progress within just 3 months. If you decide to start learning with me, you will receive a free PDF book for learning Greek, along with tailored documents covering the theory we’ll explore and workbooks for practice at home.
Let’s embark on this exciting journey together and unlock the beauty of the Greek language! 🇬🇷✨
