I have taught boys and girls in secondary schools (boarding and day, single-sex and co-ed), and have tutored pupils from Y5 upwards. In a school environment I have taught the top year (Y6) in a primary school, and all tiers of secondary school (including GCSEs, A-Levels, and the International Baccalaureate). I have also tutored pupils preparing for Common Entrance exams and scholarship exams.
I think tuition sessions benefit from incorporating as much variety as possible, including vocabulary-picture association in memory games, translation work, grammar exercises, and (if required) the solid staple of vocabulary tests. I can provide tuition across the full spectrum of age and ability, from those facing particular challenges with their learning to assisting gifted students seeking to extend their studies. I always provide an updated 'Scheme of Work' to both pupil and parents after each session, so that everyone is clear what the targets are and what has been achieved.
Please note that lessons cancelled with less than 24 hours' notice will be charged at the full rate. Lessons cancelled between 24-48 hours beforehand will be charged at 50% of the full rate.
I have been a qualified teacher since 2009 and taught in a variety of state and private schools in Kent, London, and Surrey. I graduated from the University of Cambridge with a 2:1 in Theology and Religious Studies and was awarded my MA in 2010.
I have worked as a private music (violin and piano) teacher since I was in the sixth form, and, since qualifying as a teacher , have tutored Philosophy, English Literature, and Religious Studies to a variety of students internationally (online) and in person (locally).

Mathematics and Physics
I have nearly 4 years experience tutoring Mathematics and Physics to students ranging in age from 7-17. I have coached KS2 to A-level in Mathematics and Physics (including different syllabuses).
A large proportion of my students achieve high marks in their examinations, with a few gaining a 9 in GSCE Maths last year. I had one student last year who went from a 5 in their mock Mathematics GCSE, to getting an 8 as their final grade, and is now studying it at A Level! My Physics students also achieve very well, last year gaining a range of results between 7-9, which is just wonderful.
Some of my A-Level students from last year also went on to study Maths, Medicine, and Physics as well as other degrees at some prestigious Russell Group Univisities, and a few gained entry into Oxbridge.

Secondary School Entrance Exams (Year 7 and Sixth-Form).
I tutor for Secondary School Entrance Examinations (including verbal and non-verbal reasoning) to help students prepare for these. My sessions focus on building the problem-solving skills, pattern recognition, and logical thinking needed to tackle these challenging question types. Using practice papers, proven techniques, and timed drills, I help students improve accuracy, speed, and confidence.

Electrical Installation Theory
I tutor the theoretical side of City & Guilds Electrical Installation Qualifications (whether simply college or with an adjoining apprenticeship) drawing upon my own experience completing a Level 3 apprenticeship. My focus is on helping learnings understand the key principles, regulations and calculations required to succeed in the classroom and in exams. I've supported many apprentices in my company through their studies, helping them build confidence and pass their qualifications with a solid understanding of the theory behind the trade.

I have taught physics for almost twenty years at two top-rated schools, Tiffin Boys’ in Kingston and The Judd School in Tonbridge, where I was Head of Physics, and where I gained a Physics Teacher Award from the Institute of Physics.
I have a BSc Honours degree in Applied Physics, a Diploma in Industrial Studies, Qualified Teacher Status, Chartered London Teacher Status and am a Fellow of the College of Teachers. I have a DBS certificate from my role at Judd School.
The lessons I provide are carefully tailored to meet the objectives of the student – these maybe quite wide-ranging or focus on specific discrete topics. I can assess ability, areas of subject knowledge weakness, how each student best learns and how to build confidence and understanding. My lessons will include theory and explanation, contextual reference, worked examples and help with specific questions. Any notes produced by me during the lesson will be left with the student. The duration will be one hour, and if part of a series of lessons, will begin with a recap and appraisal of the previous lesson.
I can cover all aspects of GCSE and A-level Physics (including guidance for the A-level practical qualification) for AQA, EdExcel, IB and most other boards.
I would be just as delighted to raise a student from a level 3 grade to a 4, as I would an 8 to a 9; I am happy to assist at all abilities.

One thing I have learnt from mentoring students is the importance of communication whenever the student may need, even outside working hours, this is why I will have 24hour contact with my students to assist in any further questions outside tutoring hours. This may include homework help, questions by topic or feedback in general.

If you are completely new to music, the piano/keyboard (or the drums) is the best place to start. The layout of the keyboard forms the basis for our understanding of harmony and theory, without which, learners of instruments (other than drums) will be at a significant disadvantage.
