I have taught boys and girls in secondary schools (boarding and day, single-sex and co-ed), and have tutored pupils from Y5 upwards. In a school environment I have taught the top year (Y6) in a primary school, and all tiers of secondary school (including GCSEs, A-Levels, and the International Baccalaureate). I have also tutored pupils preparing for Common Entrance exams and scholarship exams.
I think tuition sessions benefit from incorporating as much variety as possible, including vocabulary-picture association in memory games, translation work, grammar exercises, and (if required) the solid staple of vocabulary tests. I can provide tuition across the full spectrum of age and ability, from those facing particular challenges with their learning to assisting gifted students seeking to extend their studies. I always provide an updated 'Scheme of Work' to both pupil and parents after each session, so that everyone is clear what the targets are and what has been achieved.
Please note that lessons cancelled with less than 24 hours' notice will be charged at the full rate. Lessons cancelled between 24-48 hours beforehand will be charged at 50% of the full rate.

I have been a qualified teacher since 2009 and taught in a variety of state and private schools in Kent, London, and Surrey. I graduated from the University of Cambridge with a 2:1 in Theology and Religious Studies and was awarded my MA in 2010.
I have worked as a private music (violin and piano) teacher since I was in the sixth form, and, since qualifying as a teacher , have tutored Philosophy, English Literature, and Religious Studies to a variety of students internationally (online) and in person (locally).
I have a baby daughter so cannot curretly offer tuition at my house but have lots of availability online outside of school hours or in school holiday time.
I have an excellent record of helping students to improve their understanding (and grades) in Philosophy/RS and English, and of seeing students through to Grade 8 on Piano and Violin, with Distinction.
My A Levels (all A grades) are in: English Literature (I also received a commendation from the exam board for attaining one of the top five scores in the country); Music; RS; Media Studies; General Studies.
I am a life Fellow of the Westminster Abbey Institute.
I have Grade VIII Distinction (ABRSM) on Violin and Piano.
I passed the National Professional Qualification for Senior Leaders in 2018.
My tutoring style is responsive to the needs of my student(s) but expect to be stretched and challenged!
Whether teaching you English, Music, or Philosophy, we will (in the words of Plato from the "Meno", "share the inquiry together")

I am a Modern Foreign Languages Graduate with several years of experience teaching both French and Spanish to A level (AQA and EDEXCEL). I am used to working with a wide range of students from lower to higher ability and have an open and direct approach to teaching and learning.
After working as an Au-Pair in France and spending a year teaching in Spain I went onto work in business as a Spanish Market Analyst. Throughout my career in Publishing, I frequently used French and Spanish whilst presenting or in international business negotiations. I speak French and Spanish fluently and Spanish on a daily basis and believe that languages are essential in today's working environment - not just as a communication tool but to better understand different cultures and societies.
At present, I teach in a Grammar School across all key stages.
I look forward to hearing from you soon.

A native French speaker who is a language lover, I have studied about 7 languages in my life, hence the homework help I can give in Spanish, Italian and German. I've learnt modern Greek, Latin and Albanian too. Now learning Japanese. I have experience with diplomats and corporate people from the City and with children and adults with special needs, Asperger's and learning difficulties. I did my teacher training in 2001-2002 after 2.5 years of being a French assistant in London schools. I starting private tuition in 1999.
I am an empathic and patient tutor who uses intuition in my teaching. I don't have the same method for everyone as my students are all different.
I also offer coaching for clients who needs life advice, especially life changes and challenges.

Educational Background and Experience:
I hold a PGCE in Education, which has equipped me with the knowledge and pedagogical skills required for effective teaching in primary education. I have had the opportunity to teach in two outstanding primary schools, where I consistently maintained high standards of education and created a positive learning environment.
Areas of Expertise: I offer specialized tutoring sessions in the following key areas:
Handwriting Improvement: As a primary teacher, I understand the importance of legible and fluent handwriting. I provide comprehensive handwriting sessions to help students develop fine motor skills and improve their penmanship.
Phonics Mastery: Phonics is a crucial skill for early readers. I employ effective phonics techniques to help young learners build strong reading and pronunciation skills, setting them on the path to becoming confident readers.
Reading Enrichment: Reading is the gateway to knowledge and imagination. I tailor reading sessions to meet each student's unique needs, fostering a love for reading and comprehension.
Mathematics Enhancement: Mathematics is a fundamental subject, and I make it engaging and accessible to young learners. I provide personalized math sessions to strengthen foundational math skills and promote mathematical confidence.

Hello! I'm a music teacher with 5 years of experience and I specialise in harmony/theory, composition, and jazz improvisation. Whether you/ your child is a complete beginner, or you're a professional musician looking to 'add more musical ingredients to the cupboard', or anywhere inbetween, I'd love to hear from you so we can sort out a free taster lesson.
If you are completely new to music, the piano/keyboard (or the drums) is the best place to start. The layout of the keyboard forms the basis for our understanding of harmony and theory, without which, learners of instruments (other than drums) will be at a significant disadvantage.
Things I can help with:
- inspiring young beginners to take up music-making, with a joyful, creative and holistic approach.
- electric bass (bass guitar) lessons, beginner to intermediate
- saxophone lessons, beginner to advanced
- provide a method and structure to beginner/intermediate students looking to take the next step with piano, saxophone, or electric bass
- inspire teens and adults to delve into the world of music with no prior experience
- help intermediate - advanced pianists develop better technique, up to grade 8 level
- provide a comprehensive training in jazz harmony, advanced rhythm, classical composition, songwriting, or improvisation
Things I can't help with:
- Diploma-level classical piano
- Advanced virtuoso electric bass
- Forcing students to learn things they are not interested in
- Forcing students to try to play things they are not yet ready for
- Someone who is looking for the traditional 'strict piano teacher' who doesn't let you choose your own music, punishes you for making mistakes, and has a rigid teaching style that is not adapted to each student
