I am a Modern Foreign Languages Graduate with several years of experience teaching both French and Spanish to A level (AQA and EDEXCEL). I am used to working with a wide range of students from lower to higher ability and have an open and direct approach to teaching and learning.
After working as an Au-Pair in France and spending a year teaching in Spain I went onto work in business as a Spanish Market Analyst. Throughout my career in Publishing, I frequently used French and Spanish whilst presenting or in international business negotiations. I speak French and Spanish fluently and Spanish on a daily basis and believe that languages are essential in today's working environment - not just as a communication tool but to better understand different cultures and societies.
At present, I teach in a Grammar School across all key stages.

I have a lot of experience in language acquisition, and will be able to help you achieve your language goals in English, French or Spanish at any level. My background is very diverse, and I have lived in Chile, France, South Korea, Spain, and Kazakhstan over the course of my life, gaining an understanding of the linguistic structures and grammatical rules of 6 languages throughout the process. I am thus very well equipped to teach you how to understand grammar in simple terms, and I have a wealth of experience with regard to memorising vocabulary.
After achieving a grade of 40/45 in the IB, I began a degree in BA French and Philosophy at UCL, graduating with first class honours and spending a year studying French Literature at the Sorbonne in Paris under some of the greatest minds in the field. I then taught English for a year in South Korea, during which time I gained a TOPIK (Test of Proficiency in Korean) qualification after only having studied the language for 5 months, and acquired significant expertise in working with students of all levels. I then moved to Barcelona to complete my masters degree, before completing an exchange in Kazakhstan, where I did field research with Russian draft-dodgers for an award-winning masters dissertation that has since been published. My English language writing skills are excellent, and I have a wealth of knowledge on foreign affairs, global history and literature across a number of languages.

I originally trained and worked as a secondary school English teacher, but I found the pressure in schools led to teachers being overwhelmed with paperwork and the teaching element almost became a lesser priority. “Teaching” is something that has always inspired me from a very early age, where even in my mid-teens I used to give coaching to primary school kids in my neighbourhood to earn pocket-money!
Since then – and after graduating from the University of Valencia, and taking a post-graduate Diploma in Education – I have taught Spanish to wide variety of ages and levels in both Spain and [since 2011] the United Kingdom.
After several years as a supply teacher of Spanish at a number of Secondary schools in Kent, since 2016 I now teach Spanish to Reception and KS 1 & 2 years at a C. of E Primary School in Kent on a part-time basis, and in parallel tutor both older pupils and adults on a free-lance basis.

Spangles has been successfully running Spanish courses for adults, teenagers and children in Kent since 2005. Spangles Spanish lessons are focussed on conversation and culture. Our well-structured courses are reinforced with audio tracks to assist adults and teenagers with speaking and listening.
Each child is awarded a vocabulary picture-sheet at the end of each lesson and everyone can access the interactive games on this website to assist with learning.
We teach in Kings Hill on Mondays, Bexley on Tuesdays, Sandling on Wednesdays, Maidstone on Fridays, Detling on Saturdays.
