Music has been my life’s passion and being able to share that passion with others is the best job in the world! Based in Bromsgrove, Worcestershire, your piano lessons are taught face to face in a purpose built studio. Whatever your starting point, age or preferred style of music I will tailor a course of lessons just for you. We can even learn online together with one-to-one video lessons. Your piano lessons will be relaxed and fun with structured learning at the heart of each and every lesson.
With 22 years experience of being a qualified primary and secondary classroom teacher and offer age appropriate lessons that are always fun and engaging. I can also offer tuition that supports students with special educational needs. There are no barriers to learning music. I teach from my home in Vale Street, Amblecote, and also travel to my pupils to teach where time and distance permits (and where a suitable instrument is available for both tuition and practice between lessons). Currently I teach around twenty-five to thirty pupils per week, ranging in age from five to sixty-five. Lessons are usually on a regular weekly basis and range from 20 minutes (for very young beginners) up to an hour for more advanced students. Fees are tailored according to duration and location of lessons.
Entrance to ABRSM graded exams is encouraged (but not obligatory), as is participation in local music festivals each year. I believe exams are a means to an end but should not be an end in themselves. Understanding and enjoyment of the music performed are paramount, as is developing technical proficiency on the instrument. Likewise, I place particular emphasis on the experience to be gained from performing music in front of an audience, rather than the purely competitive side of music festivals. I aim to teach to the highest standards, and many of my pupils obtain merits and distinctions in both their practical and theory grades, as well as regularly achieving 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places in their respective festival classes.
I aim to teach my students not only to become good pianists, but well rounded musicians. To this end, I place emphasis on developing good sight-reading skills and aural ability, as well as encouraging my pupils to adopt good practice habits from an early stage. Theory and history of music, including awareness and understanding of different musical styles and forms, is also something which I incorporate into my teaching, as is the compositional element - being a significant requirement of the GCSE and A level school music curriculum. Theory tuition is also offered separately.
By developing the above skills on the piano, I fully believe in helping my students to become self-sufficient musicians who can then continue learning and enjoying music for themselves. In addition, I believe this will help them develop skills relevant to many other disciplines, activities, and everyday situations, including: gaining in self-confidence; the ability to communicate and interact well with others; improving manual dexterity; and improving brain function (in terms of cognitive ability, lateral thinking, spatial awareness, and motor co-ordination skills) - even for those who do not go on to study or perform music at higher levels.

Hello! I'm a music teacher with 5 years of experience and I specialise in harmony/theory, composition, and jazz improvisation. Whether you/ your child is a complete beginner, or you're a professional musician looking to 'add more musical ingredients to the cupboard', or anywhere inbetween, I'd love to hear from you so we can sort out a free taster lesson.
If you are completely new to music, the piano/keyboard (or the drums) is the best place to start. The layout of the keyboard forms the basis for our understanding of harmony and theory, without which, learners of instruments (other than drums) will be at a significant disadvantage.
Things I can help with:
- inspiring young beginners to take up music-making, with a joyful, creative and holistic approach.
- electric bass (bass guitar) lessons, beginner to intermediate
- saxophone lessons, beginner to advanced
- provide a method and structure to beginner/intermediate students looking to take the next step with piano, saxophone, or electric bass
- inspire teens and adults to delve into the world of music with no prior experience
- help intermediate - advanced pianists develop better technique, up to grade 8 level
- provide a comprehensive training in jazz harmony, advanced rhythm, classical composition, songwriting, or improvisation
Things I can't help with:
- Diploma-level classical piano
- Advanced virtuoso electric bass
- Forcing students to learn things they are not interested in
- Forcing students to try to play things they are not yet ready for
- Someone who is looking for the traditional 'strict piano teacher' who doesn't let you choose your own music, punishes you for making mistakes, and has a rigid teaching style that is not adapted to each student

I have over four years of experience tutoring both online and face-to-face. During this time, I have taught piano to children as young as three and worked intensively on exam preparation, including English tests and the ISEE, often with only three months’ notice. I’ve also helped students exceed their grade level in English writing, reading, and comprehension. Additionally, I have worked with children with autism, ADHD, and anxiety, focusing on building trust and creating a fun, engaging learning environment where we can grow together.

Providing tuition for all ages at pupils homes only.
I have been tutoring for the last 24 years all ages and ABRSM grades, inspiring them to learn and play four hands repertoire, as well as preparing for ABRSM exams. I'm tutoring pupils for their own pleasure or ABRSM grades, in relaxed, positive, encouraging and motivational atmosphere towards achieving better levels of performance. From classical to contemporary and popular music, the choice is yours. All that matters is having joy of playing music, whether beginner, intermediate or advanced. 12 years of experience, piano or keyboard is perfectly fine with me, what matters the most is enthusiasm and genuine desire to improve. I'm based in West London, references upon request.

Hi my name is Laura. I have always enjoyed music and I believe it is one of the best ways you can express yourself as an individual. I started learning the electronic keyboard at the age of 11 at a music school, later migrating to piano in my teens. My obsession with music continued all to the way through to my late teens and early 20s when I later graduated with a Bachelor's Degree with Honours at Anglia Ruskin University, Cambridge. While studying music at university, I was lucky to receive expert tuition from Jazz Pianist and composer Chris Ingham. Since graduation I always wanted to be in a funk or soul band and even now regularly turn up to jazz gigs and jams and play at open mics as I feel its so important to keep your music fresh and learn off other people.
I have been teaching piano as a peripatetic and private teacher since I left University, so when I was 21 years old.
I was really lucky to experience tuition in such a contemporary, 'non stuffy' manner, I truly believe this is the way music should be taught. There's nothing worse than dull piano lessons! Music is like a language, we learn it through the art of doing. I believe in teaching music in a friendly, non-fussy way and I like to bring out the best in my students by tailoring their lessons around them and their goals. My students study their music and theory then take exams when they are ready, I would never put a student through the pressure of an exam unless they are ready. All lessons are taught in a relaxed environment from my home and I am friendly and approachable, so why not give me a call on the phone and see what you think? If you would like to know more about me before calling, you can check out my Facebook page: LaurasPianoLessonsSwindon

I studied at The Birmingham School of Music and the Guildhall, London where I graduated in vocal studies and Music Therapy respectively. I am a qualified teacher and have worked in various schools across the East Midlands both as a teacher and a Music Therapist. I work as an arranger for a number of acapella groups both in the folk and gospel industry. I perform regularly both in churches and small venues as a multi-instrumentalist, conductor and singer.
Tutoring Experience:
I have taught music up to 'A' level and as well as all over the UK I have worked in Romania and West Africa. I regularly teach the compositional element of ABRSM exams to grade 8, where I have a 100% pass rate and have over 25 years experience in special and state schools. I am available to teach online over Skype or Zoom.
Tutoring Approach:
I am passionate about music and endeavour to pass this on to my students. I enjoy and can play a wide variety of music from classical, pop, jazz and gospel. Each of my students is precious and I strive to help them achieve their potential at what ever level.
