I've played piano for the last 12 years and I taught piano to several students, listening to their passions and adapting my lessons to the music genres they're more attracted to.
London-based Slovenian violinist and composer Katarina K. (born 1993) recently graduated in BMus Composition with a first class honours, and in MMus Performance with distinction. In May 2016 she also gained the Fellowship of the London College of Music award and received the Mona Blackman Scholarship.
Katarina began learning the violin at the age of six and has performed with many different musicians and orchestras all around Europe and Minnesota, USA. She has attended masterclasses and festivals as an active participant with world’s leading professors and won several prizes at international competitions.
Besides being an active concert violinist and performing as first violin in the Belgard String Quartet, she is pursuing a career in film composition, and in violin teaching. Her performance venues include some of the main Slovenian concert halls, as well as St. Barnabas Church in Ealing, Acton Hill Church, Cadogan Hall in London, Tower Bridge Walkways, and performances within the Ealing Film and Music Festival.
As a composer, Katarina’s pieces have been performed by LCM students, the LCM String Ensemble, and in January 2015 her piece ‘The Sixth Element’ for string orchestra was performed at the Gala Concert of the Crescendo Music Festival in Florida. Her piece ‘Tunisian Crochet’, which was premiered by the Camerata orchestra, won the LCM Composition Competition. Katarina recently composed music for Melies’ film Trip to the Moon, including a large symphonic orchestra, for which she received an exceptional mark.

Hello, I'm Vincent N., a passionate mathematician and educator with a diverse background in Actuarial Science and Music. I hold a Master's degree (MSc) in Actuarial Science from Heriot-Watt University and a Bachelor's degree (BSc Hons) in Mathematics with Actuarial Science from the University of Southampton. During my time at Southampton, I initially pursued a Master's in Music (MMus), but unfortunately, due to an injury, I had to transfer to a Postgraduate Certificate (PGCert) in Music.
After completing my undergraduate studies, I furthered my academic journey at Cardiff University, where I earned a Master of Philosophy (MPhil) in Mathematics. My research focused on "The Risk Models with Non-Local Poisson Processes," and I was fortunate to have Prof. Nikolai Leonenko as my supervisor. This research culminated in a published paper titled "Risk process with mixture of tempered stable inverse subordinators: Analysis and synthesis" in the journal Random Operators and Stochastic Equations.
Beyond academia, I have had the opportunity to share my knowledge and passion for mathematics as a tutor in the Maths support service at Cardiff University. In this role, I assisted students across the university with various mathematical challenges, helping them grasp complex concepts and excel in their studies.
Music has also been an integral part of my life, and I have honed my skills as a pianist and organist over the years. As a freelance Piano/Organ Teacher, I created customized teaching materials to cater to the unique needs of each student, fostering entertaining and engaging learning environments. Additionally, I served as an Organist at St. Nicolas' Church, North Stoneham, preparing and accompanying the choir for Sunday Eucharists and other services.
During my time as Acting Sub-organist at St. John's College, Southsea, I planned and played for college festive services, accompanied the choir during trips across the UK, and provided coaching to young organists. As an Organ Scholar at the same college, I played for regular services alongside the junior organ scholar while mentoring and coaching other aspiring young organists.

Whether you/ your child is a complete beginner, or you're a professional musician looking to 'add more musical ingredients to the cupboard', or anywhere inbetween, I'd love to hear from you so we can sort out a free taster lesson.
If you are completely new to music, the piano/keyboard (or the drums) is the best place to start. The layout of the keyboard forms the basis for our understanding of harmony and theory, without which, learners of instruments (other than drums) will be at a significant disadvantage.
Things I can help with:

I am experienced in my instruments and so far have taught trumpet and maths so I have experience in teaching children. I have grade 8 qualifications in all 4 instruments and study piano at Cardiff University School of Music. I have an A* mathematics A-level and completed two years of mathematics at Cardiff University before I decided to pursue music further instead. Hi my name is Laura. I have always enjoyed music and I believe it is one of the best ways you can express yourself as an individual. I started learning the electronic keyboard at the age of 11 at a music school, later migrating to piano in my teens. My obsession with music continued all to the way through to my late teens and early 20s when I later graduated with a Bachelor's Degree with Honours at Anglia Ruskin University, Cambridge. While studying music at university, I was lucky to receive expert tuition from Jazz Pianist and composer Chris Ingham. Since graduation I always wanted to be in a funk or soul band and even now regularly turn up to jazz gigs and jams and play at open mics as I feel its so important to keep your music fresh and learn off other people.
I have been teaching piano as a peripatetic and private teacher since I left University, so when I was 21 years old.
I was really lucky to experience tuition in such a contemporary, 'non stuffy' manner, I truly believe this is the way music should be taught. There's nothing worse than dull piano lessons! I studied at The Birmingham School of Music and the Guildhall, London where I graduated in vocal studies and Music Therapy respectively. I am a qualified teacher and have worked in various schools across the East Midlands both as a teacher and a Music Therapist.
