I am a very dedicated teacher who specialises in biology but am confident in all three sciences.
I aim to make learning as engaging as possible for all abilities.
I think that my enthusiasm for the subject comes across in my teaching, especially in a one to one setting.
I currently use the AQA specification but am very familiar with Edexcel also.
I love teaching and I love tutoring as it allows more focus on specific areas as well as identifying the child’s areas of strength and weakness.
I strive to make all of science accessible and enjoyable for students, relating topics to real life. I have taught a range of abilities and SEN needs while at my current school while also leading the STEM program, aiming to engage all students.
My approach to tutoring is tailored to the individual needs of each student. Science and maths education is something I have always been passionate about and I try to encourage students to share this passion. It is vital to ensure that all students receive the best education possible and it is my belief that they should receive it in a caring and supportive environment. I refuse to believe that any student cannot succeed in a subject, especially something as versatile and flexible as science and maths, there is always a way to get through to any student. While this is more of a personal belief, I have yet to see anything to the contrary. I have been involved with extra-curricular activities; film club, lunch and break duties, corridor patrols and form activities. I have also received weekly training sessions by specialists in school on teaching both SEN and EAL students and improving my own pedagogy.

First we complete free assessment with the students and discuss their weak points and then we make a plan together so we have a focus point to work towards.

My name is Guy and am an Ilkeston based tutor covering the immediate and surrounding areas with bespoke in person tuition and more recently UK wide with effective online options also. With a wealth of classroom and tutoring experience, I love working one to one with students in helping them develop their skills and confidence in maths and science from KS3 all the way up to GCSE and A Level.
Originally a physics graduate over the last few years I find myself teaching more and more maths as a stand alone subject. I specialise in confidence building, getting to know my students in helping them meet the challenges of the reformed GCSE 9-1 in maths and physics.
