PHOTOGRAPHY TUITION
I hold a PhD in Art and Communication with Photography as my field of specialism and a PGCE teaching certificate in Post Compulsory Education. At the same time I am a practising photographic artist with an interest in abstract photography. I have a comprehensive understanding of contemporary photographic practices and of theoretical approaches to the subject, and also have a strong technical grounding both in traditional and in digital processes. I am experienced in all stages of the development of photographic projects, from early conceptualisation through to printing and exhibiting. I have exhibited nationally and internationally in both solo and group shows. My selection for the Bloomberg New Contemporaries 2008 Exhibition in Liverpool and London is one highlight among them.
As an artist and teacher I insist on the highest professional standards and I emphasise clear and direct communication and honesty throughout. I offer private lessons to photography students and any other individuals who would be interested in 'how to' technical skills sessions, getting support in college and university studies or in developing a photographic body of work etc. and would be in need for some expert advice. I am passionate about photography and about teaching everybody to learn how to `see` and `think` creatively through the lens of a camera but also without it!

I am a Greek native speaker coming originally from the beautiful island of Crete. I have been living in England for the last 15 years and I have been teaching privately for the last 9 years. I hold a PhD in Art and Communication and a PGCE teaching certificate in Post Compulsory Education. These qualifications provided me with a very good command of the English Language. I am very capable of playing between Greek and English and can help English speakers have a wonderful experience of my native language. I welcome all to explore the magic of Greek language and discover a huge variety of English words that come from a Greek root.

"Stuart manages to bring variety in his approach to classes. Some weeks he positions tables propped upright on their ends and we work in various media on paper the full size of the model. Sometimes we draw a model who moves in various ways in rotation. Our still life evenings are also different, he brings in a pigs head for us to draw, and also a brace of pheasants. Stuart is always very encouraging. He covers all the basics in teaching us how to measure the body by eye, by aligning different parts of the body, and demonstrates different media techniques. "

My career has involved the management of change within an increasingly technological driven media workplace. I can offer 20+ years experience in this sector with particular knowledge of supported development and management of student learning. Established through my association with photographic and video work on a freelance basis and my time spend teaching at local colleges and universities. My working experience in the world of professional media production complement this such as magazine production as an editor and also creating community radio stations these have given my a good contact book which I can draw on when needed. with respect to my work at local colleges I delivered A2 print production to 15 students with all gaining grades of B to A's this year.
