I have been a teacher for 20 years working with children and adults in a variety of settings.
For national and specialised testing, I have proven experience in teaching 11+ and SATs in year 6. This includes maths at KS2, SPAG, and reading.
During my career, I have been a successful leader in English which means that I have advanced knowledge of the UK National Curriculum.
As part of my career, I have been an education consultant, working on projects that involve closing attainment gaps; oracy and pronunciation; and critical thinking skills.

My name is Bethany, I am 26 years old recently qualified (QTS) secondary History teacher with a Postgraduate Certificate of Education obtained through the University of Sunderland. I have recently relocated back to home to Whitley Bay after living in South Korea for 14 years and Spain for 8 years where I received a diverse upbring. I have ten years classroom experience with consistently good results. I am also an Expert Examiner with a national exam board which has given me the ability to 'read between the lines' to work out what the specifications are really asking for.
After an initial conversation about timescales and attainment, a diagnostic approach will be taken to determine if the learning need is functional (for example, written English skills) or technical (such as exam skills). From here a personalised curriculum will be designed with milestones indicated so all stakeholders can measure progress.
Sessions will typically last no more than 60 minutes with planned activities that build towards a task to be completed independently between sessions. Time will always be given within the sessions for the tutee to reflect on progress and any emerging learning needs.
