For over twenty years I was an English/French teacher to students between the ages of 3 to 19.
I also have over thirty years of experience in teaching English, French, Romanian, Mathematics and Physics in private. The objectives varied from reaching higher level of achievement (facilitating the admission to elite schools, higher educational programs or award of scholarships) to getting better school results, feeling more confident, developping academic and social skills.
For five years I had a successful afterschool program with children of ages between 3 and 12. I supported them to do their homework, taught drama, English, French and German, we did a lot of crafts and art activities, cooking, writing and creative playing.
My primary specializaton is helping children gain entrance to their preferred secondary school by tutoring and supporting them to pass the entrance exams. I also tutor mathematics and English for ages 7-13, which is in high demand at the moment due to gaps in knowledge caused by the Covid pandemic.
I spent 6 years working in all age groups in primary school as well as 5 years working with adults teaching English as a second language. I have had much success teaching mathematics, English, eleven plus and secondary school entrance exams to children aged 7-13. I have a high pass rate aiding children to pass their 11 plus exam.

Firstly, there is a free consultation and a free initial lesson so that you both check whether you like what I can offer. All lessons are prepared in advance to make the best use of tuition time. Curriculum-aligned material is taught, learners’ understanding is checked systematically, misconceptions identified accurately and clear and direct feedback is provided. In doing so, knowledge gaps are identified and content repeated to plug gaps where appropriate and embed learning. Common errors are shared to help student prevent making them in their practice and in their exams. I use a collaborative, interactive, online whiteboard which is free and simple for my students to use: no holding aloft shaky notepads aimed at the webcam. This allows me to watch and check students' understanding in real time. Using the `I Do, You Do, We Do` model, students are told what they need to know and how to do it, then we work on a task together to help student become more confident with new learning and finally student individually uses what they have been shown to demonstrate proficiency using practice questions or repeating back to me what they have learned. I am a 19 year-old student at the University of Birmingham, studying Philosophy, Religion and Ethics. During my A-levels, I worked at a Tuition Centre for ages 4-11+ for a year. I specialise in Maths and English for ages 4-15, 11+ and GCSE and A-level Religious Studies and A-level Psychology.
I love learning and, equally, to inspire this feeling in others too. I also strongly believe that social development and creativity are as important as academic learning. I worked as a primary school teacher for 14 years and loved sharing the learning journey with the young people I taught. My approach is often playful – there is so much to be learnt using games and humour – and success relies on building relationships, agreeing goals and together working out how to reach them. Sometimes the goal might just be to travel forwards and enjoy the journey; at other times there may be a more specific target.

I am a qualified and experienced teacher. Although I have worked in secondary/ middle schools, the majority of my teaching has been in primary schools. Through my individually tailored, engaging lessons, I've been able to help my students to really thrive, even in subjects they thought weren't 'for them'!
For two and a half years, I worked as a tutor and classroom assistant at my local tuition centre, teaching both English and Maths from children at a wide range of abilities, aged from 4-16. This experience taught me the importance of tailoring learning for each individual student. Large groups can often mean that some students get left behind; everyone learns at a different pace, favouring different methods. I have always had a passion for PE as a subject with many different aspects and opportunities for the wide range of children in the school to be challenged and to feel success. My background:
I have a wealth of teaching and leadership experience gained across both mainstream primary and independent all-through schools. I have been working as a class teacher in the primary sector in England for over 10 years now. Accountable for the teaching and learning across various primary year groups, I am responsible for individually and collectively planning and assessing all national curriculum subjects in accordance with school policies, with the ultimate aim of ensuring the highest possible standards of pupil achievement, progress, personal development and well-being. In addition to my day to day class teacher duties, I am also Assessment/HPL/Curriculum and MFL (French and Spanish) Coordinator for whole of school, these additional key school-wide responsibilities require that I keep myself abreast and up to date with all relevant requirements and/or changes. Currently, I am working within the state sector as Year 6 Class Teacher. Whilst working previously in Spain as an EFL Teacher with a private English Language Academy, I was responsible for teaching various levels of English to adults, teenagers and Young Learners (YL, from 6 years old). With previous experience in tutoring and teaching, each lesson will be different tailored to the needs and focuses of the individual. They will include a range of learning techniques, activities and questions. From personal experience I know no two people learn in the same way therefore I am very adaptable to teaching in several different ways to ensure success for each pupil.
Each lesson can consist of 1 hour or 2 hours. Before each lesson, I will prepare materials based on focuses discussed. I have previously done 11+ tutoring, volunteering to help children's reading skills, babysitting and working in a nursery. All those experiences have helped me obtain some valuable skills of understanding the process of learning and different learning techniques as well as the approach to teaching children. Organisation is also a key skill I have which will definitely be helpful in the role as a tutor. I have a lot of experience tutoring across various subject areas, from piano to GCSE sciences. Hi all! I'm Bengi, I am a warm and attentive tutor who loves books, language, and exploring books and language! I hold a First Class BA Degree in English and American Literature from Goldsmiths. My MA from UCL focused on modern literature and I received a Distinction for my dissertation on Deaf poetry.
Throughout my academic studies I have been learning British Sign Language, and currently I am working towards my Level 3 qualification. I also hold a TEFL certificate. I have been working as a Primary School TA for 5 years now, and have experience with children across all abilities and with a variety of SEN.
