I'm a professional Music lecturer and tutor, Guitar teacher and Bass tutor based in the West Midlands. As a Music tutor/instrumental tutor I have 1000+ hours of teaching experience, I hold a Popular Music Degree and in a College employment setting I have 14+ years experience of teaching college students from ages 16+ to adults in a range of levels (1-5).
I know every student’s journey is different, and my aim is to meet each student where they’re at, learning through Music we discuss their aims and develop the curriculum to develop their understanding.
As a musician I play in a variety of bands and performance situations as well as session work for bands and for artists up and down the UK.
I’m a Bass player for a Midlands based punk band who have released three albums and with this I have played festivals around the UK.
I play Guitar for a folk/rock band, a high end function band and also for a Queen tribute band.
As a teacher I work closely with pupils to develop personal goals, and work together on a simple plan on how to reach them. I believe understanding the reason the student is taking lessons and playing guitar/bass or embarking on other musical developments is fundamental to providing quality tuition, so I strive to create plans with the pupil to support their aims. Each lesson always keeps the pupil’s individual goals at its centre, and is created to develop musical fluency.
Ultimately I teach the student to teach themselves by understanding core musical concepts and developing a base of fundamental skills, these include; Ear Training - learning how to recognise the chords in any given song by ear; Strumming and Picking/Fingerpicking Technique - fluency with all standard right hand techniques is a must, and I teach these prioritising what is commonly used in their favourite styles; Reading TAB as well as Staff notation.
Creative Playing, Song Writing, and Improvising is my favourite area of playing and teaching as it helps learners find their own voice! I help to build knowledge of music theory in a practical and applicable way, exploring new concepts that will enable students to discover new sounds.
Again, this is catered to their aims - if they wish to write songs we'll look at some of their favourite artists/genres, see what they're doing, and set some aims for targets to write using some of their techniques.
If learners want to improvise, we'll explore some of our favourite improvisers - what scales to they use, how do they shape their phrases, and what articulation techniques are employed.
If learners have experience playing but need to improve techniques I can show drills and exercises that will make them a better player.
We explore a lot of aspects - from how to move economically; where to have tension and where to avoid it; tonal possibilities as well as how to structure your practice so you get the most for your time, whether you have a little or a lot.
Learning any instrument should be a fun and rewarding experience, I am passionate about music and hope to pass this onto all the students I teach.
I have been teaching guitar, bass and ukulele since 2000. Throughout this time, I have worked with several different organisations. These include the Derbyshire City and County Music Partnership, Sheffield Music service, HI Gain Guitar school and Harmony Music school. At present I still work along side the Sheffield Music Service as an accredited teacher. This gives me access to professional development courses as well as an enhanced DBS certificate. A recent observation judged my lessons as outstanding.
Through teaching guitar, I have had the pleasure of see many of my students grow into well round musicians performing in bands and working in the music industry. Students range from beginner to established players looking to refine their skills. Everyone is welcome, and I teach students from the age of 7 right through to retired people looking for a new challenge.
Through teaching guitar, I have been interviewed for the guitar tutor magazine as well as being feature in the Guitar techniques magazine.
Aside from teaching I have worked in many bands over my career playing in venues across the country from theatres to clubs and everything in between. One of my claims to fame is performing in front of both Prince William and Prince Harry.
As well as teaching and gigging, I also work for the London College of music as an examiner. For this I travel around the country conducting exams in Guitar, Bass and Ukulele from the beginner stage right through to diplomas in performance and teaching. This work has not only seen me travel across the U. K but I have also completed 2 exam tours of Australia and New Zealand as well as trips to Greece, Cyprus and Ireland.
I have a Bachelor degree in music education. I have 10 years experience in teaching piano and I have taught music in a primary school from Year 1 to 6 for 14 years. I love children and I am a patient they seems to respond to positively. I organised with good sense of time management including classroom management and lesson planning. Offering lessons in person or online, I have been performing professionally for 38 years and teaching for 26 years. I was initially taught piano by my grandfather, the renowned concert pianist and head of piano at RSAMD, Jack Wight www.*** I then completed my studies under Ms Anna Rastopchina. I currently play in an 8-piece function band as well as a jazz ensemble. I am also the musical director for shows held in the Clyde Auditorium and the Dumbarton theatre every spring. I teach piano & keyboard to all ages and stages. Roughly half my students study for the ABRSM piano grades, and so far my pupils (over 200 candidates) have a 100% pass rate. My other students play for enjoyment, learning various styles and technique. I also prepare students for the school curriculum Nat 4/5, Higher Music and Advanced Higher Music. I teach classical piano, jazz, pop, blues, music theory and composition. I tailor all lessons to the individual needs and aspirations of the student, employing various teaching styles. I also teach some pupils to play by ear, as well as improvisational skills, if requested. I prefer to teach from my own house, where I have a beautiful Yamaha U3 piano, as well as a Nord digital 88 piano, Roland Juno DS keybpoard/synthesizer, vintage Hammond organ and Leslie speaker and recording equipment. Lessons are generally an hour long, except for young students, where I would recommend a shorter lesson of 45 or 30 minutes. I offer online lessons via Skype or Zoom which is suitable for some of my students

I have taught guitar in Sussex for 25 years, both privately and in schools, colleges and university. I help students with auditions, performances, music exams and just getting better at playing. I teach to all ages, up to Grade 8 on the Drums, Grade 4 on the Guitar and on the Piano I will teach to a high standard, but not through the grading system as I only teach basic level sight reading for Piano.
I have taught many students over the years at varying ages and skill levels, and all have come out more passionate and more improved at there instrument.
My students have all mentioned how they find there lessons thoroughly productive and enjoyable, finding themselves increasingly motivated to play after having lessons with me. (see references at the bottom)
In my lessons I will take the students up through the Grades (ONLY for Drums and Guitar), via Rockschool, teaching them everything they need from technique, learning how to sight read, developing improvisation skills, playing in many different genres of music, and how to play by ear. I will also cover how to complement the music you are playing to and how to serve the music. As well as developing musicianship skills and how to have the right attitude in the music business.

My name is Ginevra P., I am an italian pianist, accompanist, repetiteur and chamber musician based in Genova, Italy, since the virus pandemic outbrake. I am once again working as official Piano accompanist at the Genova’s Conservatoire N. Paganini, where I am pursuing a certification for teaching Music Education. I have spent the last four years in Birmingham, where I pursued a Master in Music and a post-master course PSP in Piano performance at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, and I am currently looking for opportunities to work as a piano teacher in one to one and ensembles lessons.
My primary Goal as a teacher is to instil and broaden my students’ interest for music and to develop and ensure their music skills to be able to continue in their musical studies. Working hard as a private and scholastic piano teacher for ten years has been one of the most rewarding and inspiring experiences of my life whilst contemporarily allowing me to grow both professionally and as a person. Over the years I taught more than 30 students aged between six and seventy and I have adapted my teaching technique to the specific needs of each individual, considering differences in terms of age, instrumental practice level, music taste and personal Goals. I especially spreading enthusiasm and encouraging patience among them . As an eclectic musician, my passion for many kinds of music and for instilling love and enthusiasm for music in my students are the common and fundamental qualities in my teaching, which provide me with the flexibility to teach different skills to any type of student. I started to play the piano when I was four years old and I have always been deeply passionate about music of any type, from early Baroque to modern Rock and Pop. As a soloist I have been working hard on my self-confidence, an aspect which I continuously strive to instil in my students from a young age. During my piano studies I also focused on chamber music and opera accompaniment, disciplines that require not only musical and pianistic abilities but also strong leadership skills. I believe that leading a group of musicians relates to teaching a group of students: both situations require someone to guide the general Team efforts to good achievements, which makes the difference. This Kind of work can be challenging at times, owing to the increased personal responsibility one bears, not only for the project's musical success but also for its participants and their development, to enable them to give their best in a supportive, yet professional, environment. After several experiences within group projects, I am quietly confident that I possess the qualities which contribute to ensuring a project’s success, amongst the most important ones of which I count enthusiasm, positivity, honesty and calmness. In my opinion, these are also the keywords for a successful student - teacher relationship. The most important thing I have learnt in my carreer yet is how fundamental it is to keep a focus on my commitment to continued learning. I enjoy continuously engaging with my professional development; the music world offers so many facets of which I would like to explore as many as possible with the aim of helping me become the most well-rounded and versed musician I can be, which will translate into being a more valuable teacher to my students. The aim of my piano studies is to increase my musical insight, my technical abilities and my interpretative approach, always looking for a deeper understanding of music in general, and of the pieces I play in particular. This attitude is necessary for a leader position such as teacher, because it pushes me to do the best I can and it transmits my dedication and passion to my students. Next to the piano practice, I spend much of my time studying the areas related to the music I play or simply enjoy, including history, philosophy, physics and classic literature. I am confident to say that knowledge will always enhance the musical qualities of any student. I would argue that a good teacher has to encourage each student to find personal connections between their music and their interests, guiding both their personal and interpretative growth. I think that this kind of ‘research study’, combined with technical practice, represents successful professional development both for the student and the teacher. I am a hard worker, and my teachers, such as Jan Loeffler and Pascal Nemirovski, have called me competent, empathetic and enthusiastic, all of which I would consider relevant qualities for teachers in a an environment of young students.
