I am a Head of Music in an outstanding secondary school in Hertfordshire. I have been qualified for 9 years and teaching for 11.
I am an enthusiastic teacher and love seeing my students grow to have a passion for my subject.
I have taught AQA GCSE and A Level music for 9 years and was a moderator for AQA composition at GCSE.
I have also taught OCR GCSE Media Studies.
My experience in music teaching spans over a decade and cuts across all levels of education right from Nursery through to the University.
I have been drumming since the age of 9, and since picking up the sticks I have played a number of shows, events, live gigs, pub nights and so on. This has helped me develop my confidence skills on stage as well as improve my musical skills.
Venues/ events I have performed at include The M Festival in St Albans. I have played this event 5 times with the biggest audience being over 3000 people. This is a great event as they put all kinds of upcoming bands on their line up to really let people show off their great music.
Other venues include the Alban Arena in St Albans, and The Horn pub in St Albans.
The Horn have hosted some very memorable nights, with bands such as Bastille playing headline shows in the past. Other bands such as Vant have played The Horn, with my band, Echo Infirmary, being the support act.

My name is Timmy and I have been a guitar teacher for over 10 years and a music teacher for 5 years.

I am a qualified music teacher. My PGCE is from Canterbury Christ Church University. I have a Diploma in Music from Berklee College of Music , and a BA in Music from Dartington College of Arts. I have worked as a professional performer in a variety of groups, including appearances at major European festivals, on TV and radio.
I teach guitar, piano (or electric keyboard), and bass to advanced standard. I teach the use of music technology for composition and production. Software I have used include ProTools, Studio One, Reason, Logic, GarageBand, Sibelius, MuLab and Audacity. I teach music theory and harmony to degree level. I have taught curriculum music in schools since 2003, so can help pupils prepare for GCSE, A Level and scholarship preparation.
My approach to music education, whether it be in performance or composition, is patient and methodical. Music can have a magical effect on us, but it is not magic. It is actually very formulaic, and the learning and understanding of it is best done in a patient and methodical manner.

This has kept me up to date with the latest GCSE, 'A' Level and Level 2/3 BTec courses. I have also been teaching Piano and ABRSM Theory at all levels from home for about the same amount of time.
