During last more than 10 years I have first hand teaching experience in the University in the UK and Canada. I have PhD in Aerospace engineering and had worked before at Pratt and Whitney Canada which is an aircraft engine manufacturer. Also, I have strong experience on online tutoring on engineering subjects, physics and maths. I can confidently explain mathematical and scientific principles and concepts using diagram and formula on digital white boards. I was also qualified by the Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education Teaching (PGCE). And, I am a Chartered Engineer (CEng) as a member of Institution of Mechanical Engineer (IMechE) in the UK. I have been teaching Fluid Mechanics, Thermodynamics, Dynamics, Heat Transfer in undergraduate degree program as well as Physics, Maths and Enigineering Science in Foundation program. Thus, I have both teaching experience as well as practical experience. From my strong experience I am confident on my teaching approach and able to understand well various students thoughts and needs.

I specialise in working with students on a 1-on-1 basis, easing and tackling individual areas of difficulty at their appropriate pace – something that can be difficult to receive in the standard school environment. My teaching approach is adaptive upon students’ own learning attitude, thus, presenting resources in various ways. It is focused on fostering a comprehensive understanding of the fundamentals of a topic, before applying that knowledge to solving questionnaires. I also specially aid with exam preparation to share my own unique methods of working and exam techniques/tips. Ultimately, I aim to develop one’s self-esteem and perseverance to fulfil their own aspirations.
I have taught a wide age group from 5 to 24, which my past tutor sessions were based on creativity of my hobbies such as art, which always worked absolutely well since when I was a GCSE student.
I have many experiences working with children, especially with spending my work experience as an assistant in a primary school class, I was able to interact and deal with various situations to keep the children calm, focused and motivated. As a school tutor, I utilised my organisational skills to collect resources and investigated various methods of teaching to find the most efficient way to deliver difficult contents, suiting the students’ own learning attitude appropriately. I have been teaching since 2006 as a Primary School Teacher and have been very fortunate and lucky to have worked at a range of schools.
I have taught in outstanding schools, that have been satisfactory or required improvement and faith schools. I have taught as a classroom teacher in KS1 and KS2. I have experience of both phonics assessment and SATS experience. The bulk of my career has been teaching in London schools and more recently I have taught in schools in Leicestershire, Derby and Nottingham. In all schools I have worked in, my lessons have been judged ‘good’ or ‘outstanding’.
It has been a valuable teaching experience which has certainly shaped my professional outlook and provided me with a rich insight into what you can achieve with children. This has allowed me to to develop into a passionate, enthusiastic and dedicated teacher. I am able to plan, assess, reflect and adapt my teaching to ensure that all children have a challenging and enjoyable experience and make excellent progress.
Lesson observations of my teaching have highlight how children are enthusiastic, engaged, eager to learn and are confident when attempting tasks. Tasks are differentiated for all abilities and especially the higher ability who need to be stretched continually. I am a qualified science and maths teacher who has taught and tutored GCSE science for the past 4 years. Over that time I have helped students achieve over their target grades all the way up to grade 9s on their triple science awards.
I am a university trained Maths teacher, who has worked in many local Derby schools. I am currently working at Derby College teaching A-level and Core Maths 3 days a week. I have tutored several GCSE students, who have achieved a passing grade. I am available for lessons throughout the day on a Wednesday and Friday during term time. Tutoring online would be best for me, but I am able to travel up to 5 miles if this is not possible.

As parents of primary-aged pupils, we are aware of how Covid-19 has affected our young people. Through small-group sessions, we seek to bridge the gap in learning that it has left behind and help our pupils to achieve whatever their educational goals might be.
How we start
Firstly, it is important that we get to know each child as an individual. We offer free of charge assessments of your child's reading fluency, reading comprehension and mathematics prior to starting. This allows us to plan for progression in each and every session that the child attends, right from day one.
English
We begin with our youngest learners by working on each child's understanding and application of phonics. We develop this so that pupils can read fluently with the right emphasis and expression and use their working memory on comprehending the text rather than trying to decode each individual word.
Within our English sessions for Year 3 and 4 children, we work to develop the many strands that weave together to make a skilled reader. We develop each child's sight recognition, decoding and phonological awareness to optimise their reading fluency. We also focus on advancing background knowledge, language and literacy awareness and verbal reasoning to improve comprehension. This is all done within fun group sessions that will foster a love of reading.
As we move into Year 5, some pupils may choose to focus these skills towards the GL 11+ test used in all Birmingham grammar schools (from this year) whilst continuing to enjoy our learning and expand our knowledge of the world. Others drive on towards their SATS in bespoke workshops.
Mathematics
Within each maths lesson, we aim to give the children the opportunity to learn and practise new skills, embed this new learning through application to different contexts and then reason and problem solve. We use practical and pictorial models to ensure that learning is embedded and retained before we move on to a new topic.
In year 5, pupils who will sit the 11+ entrance exams will add the focus of non-verbal reasoning to their maths sessions as we focus the children on content that they will meet in the GL 11+ papers.
