Maths Tutor, Teacher, Instructor
Check out my great reviews!
Is maths a mystery? Do you wish you understood ‘why’ as well as ‘how’? If you ask a question, does your teacher give the same explanation again and again? It doesn’t have to be that way. My methods really work; my students increase their mathematical abilities and confidence, and can explain what they’re doing. Some are so excited after my lessons that they can`t wait to tell their parents all about it! Do you wish your child was so inspired by their teacher that they voluntarily did extra maths in order to improve?
If your child has had a difficult time with maths at school, or perhaps you`ve tried other tutors and been disappointed, fear not, there is a better way. Follow other parents who have noticed their child leave my lessons with a grin, and a bounce in their step, follow other students who have messaged me after exams to tell me that there was so much they could do! This way works; maths doesn`t have to be a mystery.
I'm a qualified teacher with 12 years experience of teaching in schools and as a private tutor. I cover all secondary maths, including the IB and all A-level boards. You can find reviews on my Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61550861671606) and more reviews on this page https://www.tutorhunt.com/users/mrstreen/.
In the first lesson, I`ll ask lots of questions to get a picture of what my new student can and can`t yet do, and more importantly, what they understand. I`ll then use that to build a programme for the next few weeks, including any topics that they would like to work on. Often I point out weaknesses that my students haven`t noticed or haven`t realised are holding them back; once we fix these, progress is visible and can be quick.
My planning is completely flexible and is built around my student’s progress and needs, and I use a variety of resources so that we can explore topics in different ways. I am patient and used to explaining concepts in several different ways to find the way that works for each individual. I don’t teach tricks (unless you want me to), I focus on helping students to understand.
What online lessons require and involve
Having online lessons is often something students haven’t considered or perhaps feel daunted by. I’ve taught a number of students online, some exclusively so and some when convenient e.g. when they or I went on holiday. Online lessons also allow me to be more flexible over timings and to offer a lower rate since no travel is involved.
Has your child ever been so excited by their maths lessons that they asked to have one while away on holiday? My students have!
Online lessons require a computer, not necessarily a laptop, internet access and a quiet room.
I carry out lessons on Bitpaper, an online free whiteboard. If students sign up for an account, they can save that whiteboard and come back to it whenever they want. Thus they have ready-made notes after each lesson.
My students can opt to have cameras on or not; I am always happy to follow my students’ lead on this. I know some people prefer to work unseen whereas others like being able to look at my face as we discuss topics. What matters is that my students are comfortable.
I set homework on another website, also free to use, that marks work for me and the student and allows me to focus on giving feedback and correcting misconceptions.
Online tutoring greatly increases your choice of tutors. Why not contact me today and tell me what it is you would like to achieve?

Thank you for viewing my profile! Please take some time to read through my profile before contacting me. My name is Steven, 45 from Worcester. I am a friendly and compassionate Maths Tutor, and published academic author who is deeply passionate about tutoring and helping others to succeed.
I am a graduate from the University of Aston Birmingham. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, a certificate in Mathematics from the Open University and have A levels in Maths, Physics, Economics and General Studies.I am available from 4 to 9 in and around the Worcester area. Since the covid pandemic I teach online only, so I am able to teach students from other parts of the UK.
I have lectured part time at Halesowen College in the black country and have over 20 years of experience teaching Mathematics up to GCSE level on a ‘one to one’ basis. In 2015 100% of the students that I taught gained grade C or above in Mathematics, some even moved up two grades from their predicted level as a result of my one to one tuition. I have presented and authored several Maths revision DVDs that have been sold on amazon and used in UK schools as well as in other countries as far off as New Zealand and India.
I have taught a wide range of students with varied abilities and conditions including ADHD, cerebral palsy, anxiety and depression. I specialise in helping students with low levels of confidence and self esteem to help them succeed and gain the results that they want. I feel deeply privileged to be able to help others achieve academically and make a difference to their lives.
I am fully CRB checked in compliance with the protection of children act 1999. I can provide up to 3 references from parents of students that I have recently taught. My rates are very competitive and included in my fees are free Maths revision videos, notes and past papers.
Please feel free to get in contact with me to see how I can help you or your child get the results in Maths! Please scroll down below to see recent testimonials from parents of students that I have recently taught.
** Please only contact me if you are serious about wanting tuition and can commit to lessons once a week or fortnightly (no time wasters please). Due to a high demand for my time I have to schedule appointments. Once we have agreed to start tuition you will be offered a regular time slot each week or every other week. I do not teach on an adhoc basis. If you need to cancel a lesson then I will need at least 24 hours notice otherwise the full cost of the lesson will be charged.**

Mathematics, English, French and Romanian for any age. And all the support you need in primary school to be more confident and develop your skills and learning techniques. I can work simultaneously with siblings of different ages. School is fun at home!!!
For over twenty years I was an English/French teacher to students between the ages of 3 to 19.
I also have over thirty years of experience in teaching English, French, Romanian, Mathematics and Physics in private. The objectives varied from reaching higher level of achievement (facilitating the admission to elite schools, higher educational programs or award of scholarships) to getting better school results, feeling more confident, developping academic and social skills.
For five years I had a successful afterschool program with children of ages between 3 and 12. I supported them to do their homework, taught drama, English, French and German, we did a lot of crafts and art activities, cooking, writing and creative playing.

Hello,
I have been a teacher since 2008 when I gained my PGCE, specialising in Early Years (5-11). I then went on to get my Masters in Education. For the last twelve years I have taught over a range of year groups and enjoy the challenge that teaching brings. I have had experience of tutoring Year 5 and 6 children with good results. I love the one to one teaching experience with children and know that I can make a difference to those children needing just a bit more support at this difficult time. I have a further DBS on the update service. Please contact me via my facebook page or call me for more details.
I hope to hear from you soon,
Jo

My sessions will be influenced mostly by the needs of the student in question. If you need help understanding simultaneous equations, we can spend half an hour on that. If you need help on a specific question, I'll walk you through it. If you want extra practice with quadratics, I'll draw some questions for you. And if you have absolutely no idea where to start, we can either go through the syllabus bit by bit, go through past papers or pick a topic out of a hat. Parents are also welcome to make suggestions and requests as well.

I am a tutor with over 25 years experience across all key stages and tutoring adults. I graduated from the University of Durham in 1992 with a BA Hons in Music before training as a primary school teacher. After 10 years I moved to secondary where I was Head of Music and taught Music, Mathematics, English and EPQ. I have extensive experience working with different learning needs and was responsible for introducing a phonics support programme at my own children's school when they were diagnosed with Dyslexia. I aim to make learners feel secure and confident by building a relationship with them and carefully matching lessons to their needs, abilities and interests. I am currently offering online tuition in Mathematics, English, Music and Science to GCSE and Music Theory at grades 1 to 8. Hourly rate: Individual tuition £35/ hr £20/ 30 mins I am also happy to teach small groups so if you feel that it would be beneficial for your child to be learning alongside their friends I can set up sessions where the cost can be shared between families. I am located in Cheltenham (GL52 3HF) and would be happy to take on students who would like to transfer to face to face tuition once the current situation is over as well as students who wish to learn exclusively online.

As an 18-year-old university student studying economics, I bring a unique combination of academic knowledge, personal experience, and enthusiasm that makes me a strong and effective tutor for mathematics. My academic journey has not only equipped me with solid mathematical foundations but has also allowed me to develop the teaching skills necessary to help others grasp complex mathematical concepts. Here’s why I believe I am a good tutor for mathematics:
Although my primary focus at university is economics, my studies have consistently required a solid understanding of mathematics. Economics involves mathematical concepts such as calculus, linear algebra, and statistics, all of which I have mastered and continue to apply in my coursework. This background allows me to approach tutoring with both theoretical knowledge and practical application. I understand the importance of mathematics in various disciplines and can help students see how it connects to real-world problems, making it more relevant and engaging for them.
Maths lessons in Birmingham, UK.
I have had prior experience tutoring peers and younger students in mathematics, which has provided me with valuable insights into how to explain difficult topics in an accessible way. Whether it was helping classmates prepare for exams or working with high school students to improve their grades, I’ve had the opportunity to refine my teaching style. Through this experience, I’ve learned how to break down complex concepts into smaller, more digestible parts. I’ve also developed the ability to adapt my approach based on each student’s learning style, ensuring that they receive the support they need to succeed.
One of the key qualities that makes me an effective tutor is my empathy and patience. As a student myself, I understand the challenges that come with learning new concepts, especially in mathematics. It’s easy to feel frustrated when you don’t understand something immediately, and I know how important it is to be patient with the learning process. I am able to create a positive and supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and expressing their difficulties without fear of judgment. This helps build their confidence and encourages them to keep trying until they master the material.
Being a young tutor allows me to relate closely to students, especially those who may be in high school or early university years. I know firsthand what it’s like to struggle with certain topics and to feel overwhelmed by coursework. As someone who has recently navigated similar challenges, I can offer advice, share study strategies, and provide encouragement that comes from a place of genuine understanding. My ability to connect with students on a personal level helps foster a strong tutor-student relationship built on trust, which is crucial for effective learning.
I am genuinely passionate about mathematics and teaching, which makes my tutoring sessions engaging and enjoyable for my students. I believe that enthusiasm is contagious, and when I’m excited about a topic, my students are more likely to feel the same way. I strive to make each lesson dynamic and interesting, incorporating real-life examples where possible to show how mathematics can be applied outside the classroom. My goal is not just to help students solve problems but to inspire them to appreciate the beauty of mathematics and see its value in their academic and everyday lives.
Finally, I possess strong communication skills, which are essential for explaining mathematical concepts clearly and concisely. I can take a complex problem and break it down into simpler steps, ensuring that the student fully understands each stage of the solution process. Additionally, I encourage open dialogue, asking students to explain their thought processes and reasoning, which helps identify any misunderstand

I am a professional woman who has spent my career in a range of marketing roles, both in the US and the UK. I have friends who are teachers and they have told me to inquire about possible tutoring roles as there are many children/young adults that are in need of 1:1 support - particularly since the pademic. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration/Marketing but am very good with maths. I believe that my age, experience and understanding would lend itself well to becoming a tutor.
