Kip McGrath Sheffield Central School, Learning Centre
|
The Kip McGrath Education Centre in Sheffield is one of many successful centres around the world. Outstanding, qualified teachers offer professional tuition in English, maths and science to children aged 7-16. On average, students make 3 times the progress at a Kip McGrath Centre than they do in school. Our English tutoring includes: reading, comprehension, writing, grammar and spelling. In maths we cover: number, problem solving, data handling, shape and space. We now also offer A'Level maths and all three sciences. All courses run in line with the new National Curriculum.
Motivating Children to Learn
Our qualified teachers are selected for their excellent teaching and motivational skills. The student's age, stage, level of confidence, specific learning needs and preferred learning styles are all considered when creating an individual learning programme.
Ofsted Registered
We have been Ofsted registered since April 2012. Registration enables us to accept Childcare Vouchers and means that you may be eligible for help with tuition costs through government schemes such as Working Tax Credits. Ofsted registered organisations must adhere to strict guidelines regarding Health and Safety and operating procedures, you can therefore be assured that your children are left in the best possible care as they learn.
Teaching Resources
All our resources run in line with the new National Curriculum and are unique to Kip McGrath Centres. They have been thoroughly tested to ensure your child makes steady and continual progress in their learning. Lessons are taught through:
One to one teacher input
Practical activities
Text books
Bespoke software programs
Worksheets
All of these are designed to give your child the joy of achievement in a fun and focused environment.
How do we work?
Each student completes a free initial assessment. From this we create an educational programme designed specifically for your child. The programme begins at the student's level of understanding and aims to help them progress as quickly as they are able.
What are the benefits of Professional Tutoring?
Ensuring that children have good educational support can influence their view of themselves, their interest in school work and their motivation. This impacts heavily on their future educational success. A little extra support can make all the difference, stop them falling behind or extend them, providing an academic edge in an increasingly competitive world of work. Our programmes not only enhance academic success, but also build your child's confidence and self-belief, creating an enthusiasm for learning and achievement.
What do our Parents Say?
“ I just wanted to say thank you for all the help and support you’ve given Millie. We have just had her school report back and she’s moved up two groups in maths in the past 3 months. She is so much happier and more confident." Claire
What do our children say?
“ Thank you so much for helping me with my English (and with life in general!). I have learned so much and really feel ready to start my GCSEs." Jake

We offer a free assessment. An assessment in English and maths takes around one and a half hours to complete. At the end of that time we’ll be in a position to tell you where your son’s / daughter’s strengths and weaknesses lie.
If you decide to enrol, we tutor in 80 minute blocks, during that time students will complete about 6 – 8 activities, some on the computer and some using the written curriculum resources we have.
We design an individual program for each of our students and aim it at their level of understanding to improve them as quickly as they can manage.
We tutor in small groups with a maximum of five in a group. However, we don’t teach them as a group, as each child has different needs and will be at a different stage, so they are all taught one to one and the tutor gives individual support and feedback on their work throughout the session. This promotes independent learning and gives the children time to think through what they are currently working on.
All our sessions are delivered in our dedicated centre, which provides a safe environment without the distractions that can be a drawback to delivering tuition at home.
Because we are Ofsted registered we can accept childcare vouchers, or Working Tax Credits can be used against the fees.
We run sessions on Monday to Thursday at 4:00pm, 5:30pm and 7:00pm and on Saturdays at 9:00am, 10:30am and 12 noon.
We would be very pleased to hear from you should you wish to book a free assessment.

I began tutoring privately and in schools over 10 years ago helping primary students with their entrance exams and secondary students with KS3 tests, GCSE's and A levels.
My wealth of experience helps me to pick out common misconceptions and to be aware of multiple ways/methods used in answering the questions set.
Being an exam marker too helps me to direct a student on best exam practice.

I have over forty years' experience of private tuition to students aged 3 to adult. I have taught maths and English to all ages, including preparing students for entrance exams and adult candidates for the QTS skills tests. I have worked with those for whom English is not their first language, to help them improve their skills.
I have also led after school tuition centres for 25 years. Currently centres are open in Crofton and Wrenthorpe and serve students from Leeds, Pontefract and Barnsley as well as the greater Wakefield area. The centres provide individualised study programmes in maths, English and science for students aged 3 to 16 (or GCSE pass) in a friendly, supportive environment. A free assessment is carried out to ascertain what materials would best suit each student. Assessments are also carried out on an ongoing basis to monitor progress. Fees are reasonable; discounts apply for siblings and multiple subjects.

I am a qualified Science teacher with recent secondary teaching experience and enhanced DBS clearance. I teach Maths, Physics, Biology and Chemistry at KS3 and GCSE, and Physics at A-level.
Teaching is my second career. I also have 30 years’ experience working in engineering, software development and information technology, including 12 years as a company Vice President. I use this knowledge to relate learning to real-world skills and employment opportunities.
I hold an honours degree in Mechanical Engineering, and A levels in Maths, Physics and Chemistry. My PGCE/QTS was achieved at Nottingham Trent University.
I first became interested in tutoring while coaching two sons through their GCSEs and A levels – they subsequently won places to study Maths at Oxford and Durham www.*** ;
I provide both face-to-face and online tutoring.
It is vital that our country produces many more scientists and engineers to meet the needs of future industries. I have a strong understanding of IT, AI and engineering and use this knowledge to motivate and enthuse students, giving them tangible reasons to want to excel in Maths and Science.
I am highly adaptable in my teaching styles and will always customize both the format and content of lessons to suit the individual student.

Charity
I have been part of the humanity welfare trust for 1. 5 years. Humanity welfare trust was established by a group of eminent community leaders in 2017. Humanity Welfare Trust (HWT) is a leading non-governmental organizations in countries such as Turkey, Pakistan and India including its own headquarters in (Cheadle) Manchester which is dedicated to carrying out humanitarian and development programs to fight poverty and people’s sufferings. It has also been working in partnership with vulnerable communities regardless of faith, caste, gender or political beliefs. I have helped people ranging from old grandparents in care homes and cancer patients to helping children in schools and nurseries through the charity. This charity provides opportunities to help those who are suffering from illnesses so they can acquire medical care and support. I visited India in 2016 and saw the dire condition the poor are living. Furthermore many students have started to go school in India however the children who do attend school receive an inadequate education because of poorly trained or underpaid teachers, overcrowded classrooms and a lack of basic tools such as textbooks, blackboard, even chalk, pencil and paper. I have personally helped donate sanitation kits as well as thousands of water bottles to improve the lives of these innocent people.
I strongly believe that education provides the key for a better future, so these underprivileged people can increase their skills, fulfil their potential and pursue their goals. But millions of children across India are denied even basic education. As a charity we aim to provide impoverished communities with access to education or training, which offers them a way out of poverty. By working directly with local communities, we ensure that our educational projects are relevant to their needs.
Attendance-
My attendance is 100%.This is all due to me being extremely dedicated to school and not missing a single minute of learning. I strongly believe that each second should be valued because there are many people in this world who don’t even get the chance to appreciate that. My behaviour is impeccable due to me listening to every instruction the teacher gives and acting on it instantly. The evidence is me winning the student of the year award recently. This shows that by acting on the schools motto of ‘working hard’ and ‘being nice’ can result in you being rewarded.
Work experience/community work
I have done my work experience at Cooks mill (Manchester’s largest catering supplies.)
During my work experience at Cooks mill, I was fortunate enough to have gained a first-hand experience and learned, many different sides of what goes into a project, the general process of how a project is initially planned, developed and completed; as well as how much work and detail goes into every stage.
Another valuable lesson I have learned during these 12 weeks, were the many different types of work an employer has to perform, which in turn, have provided me with more insight into the different types of roles and responsibilities that I could perform as a Doctor working for the NHS.
Reflecting back to my first day at Cooks mill, it was one of the most memorable days of my
time at work. They were very open and happy for me to contribute as much as I wanted to, and were open to any suggestions and ideas. This instantly made me feel comfortable and definitely made me feel as though I was part of a team.
In Cooks mill there are surveyors, project supervisors and managers all
working under one roof. There is a large range of people who have different strengths and
qualifications and they work together and organise their work in sync with one another so
that work flows and they are able to complete their work efficiently in order to present it to
the client on time. This in turn, manages to help the workplace become better as a team and
therefore creates a good atmosphere in the working environment. This has then showed me how I will need to communicate with my peers in my future job.
Overall, my work experience at being director at the cksmill was productive and I was very resilient in times of difficulty and I was very happy with the amount of things that I have learned and experienced in the 12 weeks of being a student employee with the company. (This is something I did on the weekends)
In the wider community I am involved in cleaning the mosque and providing support for the elderly people. This is something which I do every Sunday (early morning) which shows my passion in helping the environment be a better and cleaner place. Furthermore I do karate every Sunday to build my self-confidence and most importantly helped me with discipline. I have done karate for many years and it has helped me with my self-esteem. One on my hobbies is to also tutoring my sister every week to improve my teaching and oral skills.
