I have a great deal of experience as a tutor. I have been working at one of the UK's leading Grammar Schools for the past four years. I tutor maths GCSE and A level online. I have also conducted numerous online webinars/ webclasses and drop-in sessions for students across the country for A Level maths. I love to make maths engaging. My instagram and YouTube accounts (Mark-a-minute maths) has had a wide following from students and I consistently post short 1 minute videos for students to get snappy, bitesize reviews of topics and model answers to exam questions.
I am a Heads of Mathematics at an independent secondary boarding and day school in Kent who has a strong focus on integrating technology into the classroom given my background in Computer Science and Mathematics. I have recently finished my MEd at Cambridge University which gave me further tools to best support the students in my classroom and have been tutoring students up to A level in Mathematics and Further Mathematics (Edexcel, IGCSE, Level 2 Further Maths, etc) for the last 6 years.
I've been a teacher and tutor for over 30 years and feel I'm just about getting the hang of it now. In addition to teaching content, I focus particularly on trying to change how my students learn, aiming to provide them with the kind of education and encouragement I would want for my own children. Not that I actually do provide that for my own children, of course; I’ll be looking for some other sucker to tutor those little monkeys. I specialise in maths and physics but also run sessions on essay writing (which concentrate on improving grammar, punctuation and structure). Most of my students are studying A-level or IB, but I also run some GCSE and 11+ sessions. If this sounds like it might work for you just drop me a line and we'll have a chat. Thanks.
I am a very dedicated and determined teacher who believes in spending time with pupils to help them understand the subjects they are learning. I am qualified, friendly and experienced teacher dedicated to student learning.
I feel that I am able to connect with pupils through my friendly and personable nature. I love teaching and have the determination to provide the best possible education to my students. I am flexible, patient, and understanding. I am extremely keen to explore creativity within the curriculum, and am committed to high expectation and achievement whilst looking to make learning more accessible and fun.
I am keen to be assigned to a position that will help me build up on my skills and grow as a professional in order to make me the best teacher that I am able to be.
Available online during Covid. I am a current A-level grammar school teacher and am targeting Year 11 students who want continuity and a base for A-level, as well as Year 12 students.
I am a Primary school teacher, with an experience of 13 years. Having worked in both KS1 and KS2, I know and can teach all areas of National Curriculum.
I am a believer of hands-on learning, utilising a variety of manipulatives both purchased and found around the house. Before starting teaching in school, I have worked for 6 years with pre-school children and understand the ways young children develop their learning. A lot can be learn through playing and questioning.
Being exposed to a variety of abilities, I am very flexible in changing my teaching methods, adapting them for each child. As problem-solving underlies most of the learning, I ensure that children learn to apply their knowledge in a variety of contexts.
I am happy to teach online as well as teach small groups of up to 4 children.
We are a long established tuition centre in both Hadleigh and Benfleet. Previously Kumon we changed to First Class learning in 2013.
We teach from pre-school through to year 5 in maths and English and from year 6 through to year 11 in science.
We prepare students for the 11+ exams both CEM and CSSE and local school exams.
Students do work in class and also at home, which they return each week. Classes are kept small and so invariably we have waiting lists.
Our 11+ class starts from year 4 so as to give the students a good foundation rather than intensive tuition.
One of our First Class Learning tutors will meet with you to discuss how we can help your child with maths or English. They will then sit down with your child and complete an assessment to determine which path is most suitable for them. Once we have established your child’s needs, we will put together a bespoke course of action that will support and encourage your child’s learning.
If you feel happy with our plan and that we are the best option for you and your child, they will then be able to start attending regular classes at the centre. In these classes they will complete a short piece of work which will be marked, returned and discussed with the tutor, who will give them a detailed programme of homework to be completed before the next class.
At WinA Tutors, we work independently with each student though in a group setting with an average of 4-6 students per tutor and a maximum of eight students where the learning plans are similar.
The learning plans are individually developed and agreed with the tutor and where progress is made, targets will be reviewed following periodic formative assessments.
The student is encouraged to eventually take control of his/her development plan thereby moving from a dependent to an independent learner.
