Award-winning Online Maths Tutor by NTP (UK) , helping students develop independence, motivation towards learning maths and conceptual understanding.
I am a maths teacher in a popular school in the UK with an MSc in Engineering, and experience in teaching secondary and primary students over physical and online settings.
I believe in student-centered maths learning with independence. I already have experience in assessing students' onboarding and selecting the support plans at ''Global Edtech''. Moreover, I have also worked on SENs (dyslexia, dyscalculia, autism) students that will support this role. I always encourage my students to have a conceptual understanding over the procedural understanding, this would definitely encourage students for their effort, and hence each student will get their own motivation, thus having room for development as well. Having learned different pedagogies of maths learning, I believe I would be a good fit with the strong maths understanding and the experience.

I am fascinated by science and maths and I believe my genuine enthusiasm for the fields, combined with my working knowledge, based on years as an active researcher, is evident in my teaching.
I enjoy working with students of varying ages and abilities and take pride in encouraging students to reach their full potential. I am patient and understanding in my approach, which I will adapt to meet the strengths and needs of individual learners.
I have years of experience as a tenured university lecturer where I taught at both undergraduate and postgraduate level. I have supervised 8 PhD students to successful completion of their thesis. Having interviewed numerous UCAS candidates for degree places, I can also offer advice to hone your personal statement.
Tutoring Experience
Previous A'level results are: 100% A*-C, 85% A*-A, 8% B, 7% C. 100% of students got into their first choice universities and 31% achieved placed in medical school. These grades are representative of the results achieved in previous years. 2023 GCSE results were 100% grades 9-7 from students taking higher level papers and 100% grade 5 from students sitting the foundation level papers (the highest grade they could attain).
I have been a full-time tutor for the past eleven years and I am a past Vice-President of The Tutors' Association, the professional body for the tuition industry. I was elected into this position by members of the tutoring profession. I tutor as a full-time profession.
I am very familiar with all the major examination boards (AQA, OCR, EdExcel, IB, CIE), I have recent school-based teaching experience at secondary level and I am a current and very experienced biology examiner and question setter, which enables me to explain things from "the examiner's perspective"!
I have worked with children with special educational needs such as Asperger Syndrome, autism, ADHD, partial hearing and dyslexia. Having lived and worked abroad for a number of years, I also have experience of working with students for whom English is an additional language.
Tutoring Approach
I offer tuition either online or face-to-face at my home, where I have an area which is free from distractions and all my materials and resources are immediately available to make tuition as effective as possible.
I believe in taking a very individual approach to tutoring, adapting approaches and resources to fit the needs of the individual. Prior to commencing tuition we will agree tuition goals and I will work with these to develop a personalized scheme of learning. During tuition I will monitor student progress and keep records of this so that learning and attainment can be tracked and approaches can be continually adapted to meet the developing needs of the learner.
However, most importantly of all, I believe learning should be fun. I am friendly and approachable and I work hard to ensure students enjoy having tuition, which ultimately will maximize the progress they make.

Hi, I`m Joseph. I am a second year maths student at the University of Sheffield. I achieved A*A*A in my A-levels in Maths, Further Maths and Physics. I have two years of experience tutoring GCSE and A level maths and physics to those in my local community with great success, and would now like to tutor online to reach more people. My tutoring style is to work up from first principles using common sense and logic to unlock the answers students don`t understand. I get a lot of fulfilment from tutoring, and seeing students flourish into strong, capable mathematicians in a short time is a feeling hard to beat. I`m not all boring theory though. I aim to spend at least half of the lesson on practice questions, a vital section where good habits are praised and poor ones are fixed. Most importantly, having recently been a model student myself, I am very familiar and in tune with the exam boards and the marking schemes. This knowledge alone is paramount, since I know the most important topics which always come up, and how to pick up marks on the most difficult questions even if you cannot answer the full thing. Having mainly taught small in-person groups before, I know I can provide a great service online in a one-to-one setting. I am enhanced DBS checked.
Please do not hesitate to get in touch, I would love to help.

With Emma’s Maths Corner, you’ll always feel like someone’s in yours.
Are you or do you know someone who struggles with maths? Perhaps a college student who is retaking their GCSE exam? A high-schooler who learns at a different pace from their classmates or who has missed lessons due to illness?
You don’t even need to struggle with maths to want a little extra support and get your grade up!
School doesn’t work all the time and for everyone. Most teachers are trying their best, but they can’t cater their lessons to every single student in their class. Sometimes in the hurry to cover everything on the syllabus, individuals are left behind.
Some lack concentration. Some suffer from maths anxiety. Some need a little longer to understand. Some lack key foundational maths skills. Some lack motivation and structure.
My lessons are not only tailored to each student in terms of their mathematical knowledge and ability, but their general learning needs.
A student needs shorter lessons? Done. A student needs regular breaks? Done. A student needs more reassurance? Done. A student needs to go back to the basics first? Done.
All students need a little kindness, empathy, and patience to succeed.
I don’t expect my students to fall in love with maths—sometimes they simply want to pass their exams and get it over with, and that’s okay.
I tutor in the way that I wish I was taught at school. I strive to create a judgement-free, supportive, and collaborative environment where my students feel comfortable enough to tell me when they don’t understand, have a question, or need more practice.
Students have access to:
- a record of their progress (this can help with motivation);
- their lesson plans (they’ll always know what’s coming up);
- my GCSE mathematics ‘cheatsheet’ (the basics for each topic on the syllabus in one place);
- all worksheets and resources used during lessons, including mark schemes (to revisit at any point); and
- homework worksheets (there’s always something to do!).
While lessons are personalised and tailored towards each student’s needs, my lessons typically follow the same general pattern:
1) Completion of a recap worksheet, curated to revisit previously taught and revised topics, so as to promote active recall and the solidification of previously acquired knowledge and abilities. Depending on the student’s proficiency and confidence level, this may be a guided or independent activity, or a mix of the two. Full solutions are always given.
2) A concise instructional segment, wherein I teach or review specific concepts, often with examples, mnemonics, and analogies to aid comprehension and retention.
3) Completion of a few GCSE-style questions on the topic, with guidance and support throughout. Full solutions are always given.
Students can have as little or as much control over their tutoring as they like. Some students may need comprehensive support and prefer that I plan our lessons accordingly, whereas some students will have a clear idea of areas where they need support and ask for lessons that target these specifically, and many students will be somewhere in the middle.
My students will never be made to feel as though they have to move on without having a strong proficiency in and confidence with the current topic. Topics are practised until the student is completely happy, and then the topic will be revisited more infrequently.
My students also benefit from a clear sense of progression. Each student possesses a personalised topic checklist or lesson schedule, wherein topics are methodically marked upon completion, providing a tangible indicator of their academic journey. I never want a student to feel out of touch with their own education!
My hourly rate is £15 and takes into account the average time I spend on lesson preparation, resource creation, work assessment, and administrative tasks outside of our scheduled lessons—you won’t be charged for any more than the contact time I have with my student! I am committed to providing an affordable service while ensuring a high quality of education.
It’s important that students have tutors that are right for them. For this reason, I offer a trial lesson (with a maximum length of 60 minutes) at a 50% discount. We’ll be able to meet each other, discuss the student’s goals and challenges, and start on a little maths. After this trial lesson, if a student decides that I am not the right fit for them, they can just say ‘No, thanks’ to any future tutoring, no questions asked!
I have full professional indemnity insurance, I have undertaken certified safeguarding and child protection training for tutors, and I have a DBS check performed every year. Whether online or in person, your child is in safe hands.

I began tutoring privately and in schools over 10 years ago helping primary students with their entrance exams and secondary students with KS3 tests, GCSE's and A levels.
My wealth of experience helps me to pick out common misconceptions and to be aware of multiple ways/methods used in answering the questions set.
Being an exam marker too helps me to direct a student on best exam practice.

I am a first year law student currently studying at Sheffield university. Having achieved A*-B GCSE's and A*AB at A-Level, A* in Geography, I am very hardworking and very detail accumented which I will therefore bring to the lessons creating lesson plans and case studies in preparation. As well, I will pre-prepare exam questions to ensure the maximum amount of information is retained from the hour.
Aside from education background I enjoy playing a variety of sports such as cricket and football, watching movies, listening to music which will allow me to keep the flow of the lesson ongoing and preventing any awkwardness throughout the learning.
