MSc Project Title: - Design of a modular control system for a Scanning Force Microscope (SFM) data acquisition system.
MSc Project Background: - Scanning Force Microscopy is currently an active area of research within the School of Physics, which has a particularly interest in the study of magnetic materials and media for high density recording. Scanning probe microscopy is a new technique for investigating the topography and structure of a surface on a scale down to the atomic level. A miniature probe tip attached to a cantilever is scanned across the surface to be examined and a range of force interactions are sensed by measuring the deflection of the sensor; - the height of the tip above the surface is maintained constant by a control system.
MSc Project Description: - This project involved the modelling, design and construction of a set of feedback control modules for the Scanning Force Microscope (SFM). Initially, the feedback loop of the SFM was modelled and a PI control loop designed. This was then implemented in high quality analogue circuitry as a set of modules suitable for a 19" rack system. The modules were then inserted in the existing data acquisition system and performance tested during imaging. A flexible system was achieved which can be altered or added to easily, when necessary, in the future.

Job Title Systems Commissioning Engineer
Employer Business: Ferranti were also World leaders in Space guidance and had been designing and improving their inertial systems for over twenty years. At the time GEC Ferranti were supplying the inertial measuring system for the Ariane multi-national satellite launch vehicle. This system formed part of the overall guidance and control system fitted in the vehicles third stage equipment bay. The heart of the launcher electrical system consisted of two units; an inertial platform and a electronic unit. It provided velocity and altitude data in digital form for the on board computer and in analogue form for the telemetry system.
Job Description: My duties as System Commissioning Engineer involved simulating testing the overall electronic system until it was well within the systems specification. Commissioning also involved reliability tests, calibration tests, mechanical checks and many various climatic and environmental tests, i. e. vibration tests, bump and shock tests, drop tests, fragility tests and temperature tests (-70C to 100C).

I tutor private students and professionals who are interested in ielts tests, in addition to professionals and general sectors who wants to venture into health and safety fields.
I am a university graduate and I have also completed my training to become fully a qualified Tutor/ Assessor (TQUK Level 3 Award in Education and Training (QCF) former PTLLS. I have completed my diploma level 3 social work studies. I have also completed SEN Teaching Assistant Complete Course (TA, SEN, Autism, ADHD & Dyslexia), Completed a certificate of social care assessor (hands on) and now working towards Level 5 diploma management of health and social care. I have hands on experience in health and social care and I have previously conducted on site observations for social care assessment and worked as care & support worker and trainer.
I recently started a role as lecturer for functional skills Maths and English plus employability skills in health and social care and hospitality at Nacro Education (college), temporary to permanent. Here students (16 – 18) have been drawn from ex-convicts and those excluded from my stream education, plus those with learning difficulties.
I have previously been working as a part time HSC Placement Officer and Lecturer (Agency) at Trafford College Group, health, and social care department. I am currently also part time agency tutor for high school excluded students (SEND) for the local council of Stoke on Trent via Teacher Active.
I have also previously been working as a hybrid tutor/ assessor running training programmes: Level 2 & 3 diploma in health and social Care Setting with or without apprenticeships; Functional skills level 2 in Maths, English; Level 2 EYE Practitioners Course; Level 2 Award in Support Work in Schools & Colleges TA and teaching employability skills, life skills via Zoom, Microsoft Teams and other platforms.

I have also worked as an operational trainer for orders fulfilment in warehousing, logistics and distribution for DHL/Sainsbury and XPO/GXO logistics JD/GO. I worked in H&S and hygiene, customer service, procurement and logistics in a hotel setting as a supervisor and manager for 18 years.
