Over 20 years' teaching experience and prior to that 10 years using languages in export and business. Excellent working knowledge and fluency in Spanish and French, both of which I continue to regularly enhance whilst still loving the opportunity to keep learning.
As an Associate Principal Examiner and/or Examiner for both the major examination boards (AQA and Edexcel) for over 15 years, across the examined skills, I am well aware of the demands of the exams and how students can achieve their very best.
I have taught all year groups, from prep school to adults and the GCSE results my students have achieved have been consistently strong, with my pupils consistently getting higher than their predicted grade.
My focus is on making lessons fun whilst learning at the same time. I use a variety of teaching methods, personalised according to what the learner needs and how best they learn. The use of a variety of supporting material enables the whole experience to be enjoyable, engaging and productive.

I have been teaching for 20 years in a variety of schools and am currently Head of French. I have unrivalled experience at all levels (Yr7 through to Yr13) coupled with outstanding GCSE and A Level results. I'm a native French speaker, hailing from Brittany and qualified as a teacher after receiving my degree from Paris-Sorbonne and my PGCE from Cambridge University.
I've taught all levels from Primary to University level, prepared students for GCSE and A level exams and to a wide range of nationalities and students from different cultural backgrounds.
In my teaching style, I use the communicative approach and include visual aids, games, authentic materials, and language functions to meet the objectives of the students. So, I can teach you with proficiency and ease both languages in French and Arabic. In my teaching I include speaking, listening, reading and writing. I did my PGCE in German with French which involved the usual two teaching practices. I completed these in two comprehensive schools. Since gaining QTS in my first teaching job in 2005, I have taught German, French and Spanish in three secondary schools, all at Keystages 3, 4 and 5. I am currently employed teaching all three of these languages in an independent school.
I believe that, in the drive to raise pupil confidence in speaking and general communication, there has been a decline in rigorous grammar teaching. My feeling is that knowing the grammatical foundations of a language well, in the long run, provides a basis upon which to build and therefore facilitates more confident and accurate communication. I try to strike a balance between sound reinforcement of the fundamentals whilst nurturing curiosity in the learner to try things out, manipulating language across contexts. With German in particular I like to offer an insight into the culture of the country and my time living in Germany enables me to bring the language "out of the page". I really enjoy teaching and like to engage my pupils so that they feel comfortable to ask questions. I also inject a little humour into my delivery, which has enhanced my teaching and boosted relationships. Mine is a safe place for learners to develop.
I have taught across a range of schools in both the UK and abroad and therefore have knowledge of teaching GCSEs, IGCSEs, A-Levels and IB. I am currently teaching in a private school for secondary level students and am willing to offer lessons to students who are in need of catch up for their language GCSE and Alevels. I am a keen linguist and have lived in Germany, Switzerland and China.
