I am an experienced tutor who has been teaching English to students for over ten years. I specialise in KS3 and GCSE however also have many KS2 and A-Level students, too. I am very familiar with the different exam boards, specifically Edexcel, AQA and OCR. I an NTP qualified tutor with a fully enhanced DBS. I work closely with various agencies and councils, and local high schools in Nottingham, tutoring students individually and in groups. I also work with students with additional needs, from learning diabilities to behavioural challenges.
I am passionate about reading and writing. I aim to encourage students to strive for their best, to gain a deeper understanding of texts and to improve their writing skills so that their confidence flourishes.
I run various creative writing groups for different ages, and also offer intensive week long tuition for students who need to catch up in specific areas.
I have been teaching since 1996, I have strong work ethics. My priority is time management, team work and strong communication skills.

Hello, my name is Melissa! I am a native English speaker living and working in Leicester, England. I am a certified TEFL teacher and I studied English Literature for 2 years at college (A grade). I have provided mentoring and tutoring in the English language part-time for many years. In the past, I worked as a face-to-face tutor, and I also have experience with young children in an educational setting. Since November 2020, I have been tutoring both adults and children (online) on a weekly basis with extremely positive results. I have also been volunteering as part of a community educational work for over seven years.

As stated earlier, I have been helping fellow students and friends improve their grades. I am fluent in English, good at academic and formal writing, referencing and debates ( I participated in a few while I was in highschool and did two as exams while I was in college at Nottingham Trent International College). I did well in those debates and this can be proved by my grades from NTIC (attached above). I can also help prepare a student for the IELTS test if they are required to do one before admission. I’m fluent in Swahili which I can also tutor in.
