English, Physical Education, and Sports Psychology lessons in South Ockendon, UK. I have been teaching just over 8 years. I have taught in various environments, FE, Secondary, Primary and in Homeschool and PRU situations. I believe that tutoring offers a specialised expereince and ability for the stuent to be given pure focus for that time slot. It allows for impact and for student progress. I absolutely love working in Education, specifically tutoring as I enjoy seeing the rewards that I get from the students whom I work with. I specialise in FE, students whom may need motivation who are not accessing their education and may need that help to get back on track and to see where their education/ A-level studies can take them. I love working with new students as I make it my purpose and mission to understand their learning styles and cater my lessons towards them.

I am passionate about supporting students to achieve their potential. I love teaching, but get frustrated with the conventional classroom learning style as this is not suited to all students. You cannot measure the ability of a fish by watching it climb a tree. No two students are the same and therefore teaching and learning needs to be tailored to support the needs of the individual student. Working with students on a one-to-one basis is highly rewarding. I relish seeing my student’s succeed and improve their grades, but also, it provides me with an opportunity to discuss the subject more widely beyond the constraints of the specification and instil a passion for the subject in my students.
Tutoring Experience
I have 12 years experience in private tutoring at both GCSE and A Level in Economics and Business. I am familiar with and an examiner in the Edexcel exam board and AQA.
I have been teaching Economics and Business at GCSE and A Level in a Grammar School since 2013. I introduced GCSE Economics and ran that department successfully, with students achieving outstanding GCSE results significantly above the national average. My students have been known to achieve 87% A*-A grades or 8-9 grades at GCSE. Prior to this, I was responsible for introducing Economics at A level at a comprehensive school in Basildon. Before I moved to the UK, I taught Economics and Business at an independent school in Ireland.
Tutoring Approach
My sessions focus on establishing a core foundation to build confidence and knowledge. Economics is a hard subject. It is like learning a new language and those initial few weeks can be daunting. Students often get lost in the new terminology introduced in the first couple of weeks and this can be a reason for some students not continuing with the subject. By securing knowledge through a variety of interactive teaching techniques, students gain the confidence to access the more difficult parts of the specification.
As part of your sessions, all resources and materials will be provided. Work will be set as appropriate for you to complete and I will mark it and provide feedback. We will look at core content, exam technique and practice questions. There are many different issues which are likely to impact a student’s exam performance, but notably application of the subject in a wider context, the skills of analysis and evaluation and decoding the exam questions. These areas will be developed within our sessions and my years of experience have enabled me to devise strategies to address such areas successfully.
I have a wide range of experience in teaching a variety of subjects including:
English
Economics
Business
History
Psychology
Music
1-2-1 mentoring
Accounting
Law
EPQ supervising
I have experience working with all ability levels and a wealth of training and experience working with students who present with additional needs, including, anxiety, ASD, ADHD, ODD etc.
Please do not hesitate to get in touch if you have any questions. I will be more than happy to help you, and if I cannot help you, I am sure I know someone who can!

I am a fully qualified primary school teacher with over 10 years of experience. I have a huge passion for teaching and find it most rewarding to see children progress and excel under my guidance.
I offer tuition in the following areas:
- English
- Maths
- Creative Writing
- Year 6 SATs
- 11+ Entry Exams (Verbal and Non-Verbal Reasoning)
- Interview Preparation
Every child deserves an opportunity to reach their maximum potential. In addition to focusing on a child`s academic progress, I always look for opportunities to boost their confidence and self-esteem - as these are crucial for a holistic development. Difficult concepts are broken down in smaller ones through scaffolding using different techniques differentiated according to each child`s individual need. It is important to push each child past their comfort zone, and I do exactly that with the students I tutor by challenging them in different ways. I tutor children across the primary phase, all the way from teaching how to read and write in English, to solving complex problems in Maths, to preparing them for their upcoming SATs or 11+ exams.
I tailor my lessons to cater for each child's individual needs. I have a gentle and friendly approach towards children and I always look for ways to help them make connections between the things they learn and for them to develop a love for learning. I believe that every child is truly special and unique. I have successfully tutored children with specific learning needs, as well as children that have English as an additional language. All my students have made excelled progress in their studies, therefore most of my students come from personal recommendations of happy parents :)

I pride myself on my ability to identify and solve students' difficulties, helping them to 'get unstuck' and teaching them the skills they need to become independent and enthusiastic learners. No matter your starting point, I can meet you where you are at and get you where you want to be. I am used to using a variety of approaches depending on class size (individual or small group), student age, and the goals of the student. My focus is on helping my students to understand the learning process, so that they can ask the right questions and take charge of their own learning. I will provide you with resources and guidance to help you practise independently so that you can build on the progress you make in your lessons with me. I have a thorough knowledge of several exam syllabuses and can teach you the techniques you need to do well in exams, but I also want to help you set your own targets and have fun with your learning!

I have the experience to teach a range of different students from children struggling with KS1 up to high achieving KS5 students. In order to make things clear for my clients, I also offer an in-depth phone consultation before our first session so that I can provide a tailor-made tutoring experience. During the consultation, I will make sure and find out the goals we must achieve. In order to do that I will plan out everything to make sure that our sessions are productive and we can learn everything from the very basic. In order to help my students, I am more than happy to set homework and I can also provide feedback to help them and track their progress.
I am currently teaching A-level and GCSE students in a secondary school. I have been inspired to teach mathematics, not only by my past academic experiences (graduating in BEng Aerospace Engineering from Queen Mary University) but by my love for tutoring A-Level and GCSE students while I was at University.
I have always been inspired and excited by the degree to which mathematics influenced and penetrated so many applications, for example, in my own Engineering degree and in the studies that my former tutees used to pursue. I strongly believe that inquiry-based education is the key to the success of students in secondary school, whatever their abilities. I hope as a teacher to motivate my students to hone their inner abilities, curiosities, and strengths and discover what inspires them. My main objective is to offer a learning environment that is stimulating. I hope to encourage learners to become independent and apply their skills effectively and confidently. I am passionate about inspiring children to love mathematics and to understand its importance and intricacies in a modern world; showing my students how the subject can be used in their daily lives and activities.
I taught Years 7 and 8 and focused heavily on lower-ability and SEN students. By working with children who have special educational needs, I was quickly able to learn how to cater to the students varying educational needs. I made sure that inclusion and equality were given the top priority within the learning environment. This was important due to the fact that the students I worked with had differing and often multiple needs. My classroom often included deaf and mute students, students who have social, emotional, and behavioral difficulties (SEBD), and those who speak English as an additional language (EAL). While teaching these students I made sure to plan and manage my lessons carefully, according to the needs of my class. I liaised with relevant support staff (Deaf support and SEN specialists) and made sure all the students were catered to.
Furthermore, I also have experience teaching year 9, 10, 11, and A-Level students. This gave me the opportunity to use pedagogical techniques that challenged higher-ability students. For example, I have been encouraging students to create their own success criteria so that they are thinking about how to achieve their own goals in the lesson and also reflect on how they can improve. I have also utilized a variety of assessment techniques in the classroom to gauge student understanding and use both formative and summative assessments to further check and improve their learning. I believe that assessment for learning and keeping track of pupil progression is crucial. Therefore, I regularly mark students’ class books and look at their assessments to ensure that I can plan feedback lessons to help my students improve.
With my two-year experience as a Maths tutor, I guided students through various stages of the national mathematics curriculum, working up to A-level standard, Planned and developed appropriate teaching materials that were tailored to each client. Created an open and trusting learning environment that allowed students to progress. Marked student work and provided informative feedback so as to further improve performances.
These contrasting placement experiences, I believe, are essential for the dynamic role a teacher plays with differing students, environments, and topics, and I feel privileged to have been able to work with students of differing abilities, interests whilst using a variety of learning techniques.

My Psychology degree and 9 years of experience working with children with Neuro-divergence and additional educational needs prior to teaching have significantly shaped my approach to teaching.
I prioritise relationship building and trust with students and their caregivers.
I am patient, kind, and incredibly encouraging but have high expectations. I work with students for them to also gain high expectations in themselves. This may happen in the first few sessions or may take a longer period of time depending on the student.
I help students gain high expectations for themselves by initially giving tasks where they are guaranteed success, then celebrating and reflecting on this success and how they were able to use the skills taught and their effort to complete the task. This builds a persons confidence and significantly increases the likelihood of attempting more difficult tasks. This is heavily proven by research (and seen in my classroom daily) known as the “theory of self efficacy” and the “theory of planned behaviour”.
If a person does not believe a task is within their capability, they are incredibly unlikely to even attempt it (No matter how much we believe they can do it).
It is my job to SHOW students they can do it by designing tasks and lessons in a way that they feel challenged finish with pride in their achievements.
When teaching new skills I will show them first, then we will complete a task together, then they will apply the skills independently. I will be constantly assessing as they work independently and provide support where necessary. The ultimate goal is to phase back my support until they are using the taught skills correctly, consistently, confidently and independently.
Lessons will vary depending on students needs. If caregivers want to spend a percentage of the lesson to discuss, that will be agreed upon. If there are specific targets you want me to cover then we can dedicate time for you to tell me these expectations. If you would prefer me to assess your student and gage where the gaps are and plan accordingly, that is also ok.
I would suggest an initial session to meet, and discuss goals.
Some classes you may benefit from:
-SATs Prep
-Phonics
-Reading (comprehension, vocabulary, inferencing, predictions, explaining, retrieval, sequencing, summarising, making links, authors intent)
-Spelling
-Grammar (or Spelling and grammar combined)
-Maths
-Maths (arithmetic)
-Maths (Reasoning and Problem solving)
-Target specific - has your teacher said there are targets you need to work on in various subjects?
-Science
-History
-Geography
-Psychology (GCSE, A Level)
Is your child in secondary school but needs support in the foundation subjects such as reading, writing or maths?
Reading and writing is an essential skills in secondary school for every subject. I can support your child to close the gap so they can access all subjects with their peers. Having worked in secondary schools before, I have seen how much students are required to read and write in all lessons, but there will not be opportunities to learn these fundamental skills at school.
I welcome students of all ages (including adults) from all backgrounds and of all abilities.
I look forward to meeting you soon and celebrating the amazing progress ahead!

I have also completed a course in special education which has equipped me with a reserve of knowledge that is pivotal to improve the holistic development of each learner. I am readily aware of the procedures and guidelines that govern students with learning difficulties and how to tailor these policies to create a conducive learning environment. Also, I possess the required skills to work collaboratively with all stakeholders to assess each learner and create the relevant Individualized Educational Plan (IEP).
I enjoy creating multi-sensory lessons with differentiated instructions and activities that cater to auditory, visual, tactile, and kinesthetic learners. As an advocate of student-centered learning and technology integration, I am optimistic that learners will discover their real fortes and capabilities as they become engaged in their learning to discover and create new knowledge. This approach will motivate students to become accountable, independent learners, critical thinkers, and collaborators.
Education is the foundation for young people to achieve success in all undertakings. Therefore, my greatest goal is to educate students and help them blossom into well-rounded and successful citizens for nation-building.
