I am working with Tutor4All . We offer a range of tutoring services for GCSE's and A-level students. Our tutoring sessions are designed to be engaging, interactive and focused on student's specific areas of improvement. First Lesson is on Us!
I am an experienced English teacher who has worked in secondary schools for the over 20 years. I am also an AQA Lead Moderator and and Adviser to more than 150 schools for English Language A Level. I have Advanced Diplomas (post degree) in Language and Literacy and in Child Development. English Language is my passion though, of course, I have taught GCSE Literature as part of my professional role in school and I love teaching the texts associated with the requirements of the course. I am happy to write specific schemes of work tailored for students' specific needs. I enjoy working with teenagers at both GCSE and A Level though my specialist Language knowledge is particularly relevant to A Level Language students. Increasingly, however, this in depth knowledge is relevant to GCSE English students. I am happy to work with all levels and relish the opportunity to engage with individuals who are seeking to increase their knowledge and understanding of the key requirements for both GCSE and A level courses. During the past year I have worked alongside students from years 7 - 13. I prefer to work online as this allows me to work one to one with pupils from across the country and help them to develop their skills through close monitoring and feedback. My DBS Certificate was renewed on 15 June 2024 and I have a current Child Protection Certificate 2023 both of which are requirements for my position as an English Teacher at a High School. I will make all powerpoints available to students after the classes and will mark and give feedback for work completed after the lessons although homework is optional.

I have been a secondary school teacher since 2014, and have been a private tutor since 2016. After becoming Assistant Head of Year 9 at my school in Hampshire in 2016, I then moved in 2018 from Hampshire to Manchester. Since 2021, I have been the Head of English at a comprehensive high school and teach a range of abilities across both KS3 and KS4.
I have experience in tutoring from the ages of 6 upwards, helping with speech therapy in one particular case, in order to enable the child to catch up with the missed curriculum due to earlier speech and communication difficulties. I have also got experience in tutoring and coaching towards the Y6 SATS, in order to support with entry into private education.
My teaching experience has enabled me to work in a number of outstanding schools (Ofsted rated), all of which have been fully comprehensive mixed gender secondaries.

Considering my medical background, I find teaching science and maths favourable. I also have a good understanding of the recent exam patterns and curriculum, as I have recently done it too.
I have taught multiple age groups in the past, and have had positive feedback that shaped me into the tutor today.

My previous students would describe me as a fun, energetic and engaging tutor, who relies on quizzes and mock tests to keep you engaged. Expect to be on your toes the entire time, and not just sit and listen. Alongside explaining, I like to formulate my own resources- like notes, whiteboards and flashcards- with tips and tricks learned from personal experiences that you won’t find in a textbook, free of cost
Though I believe a normal lesson lasts about 1-2 hours, this is totally dependable on the student themselves.
