For nearly 10 years, I have been working both as a private tutor and a schoolteacher, teaching predominantly Spanish and English to students of all ages and abilities in person and online. Following a lifelong love of languages, I studied Spanish and English Literature at GCSE, achieving A* and A respectively, and at A-level, achieving B and A* respectively. In 2015, I advanced my studies at the University of Reading, where, in 2019, I obtained my BA in Spanish and English Literature. In my year abroad, I studied in Mexico (University of the Americas Puebla) and Cuba (University of Havana). Since graduating, I’ve taught thousands of hours of Spanish and English online to hundreds of students, reaching the top of the Spanish tutor ranks on another platform and receiving dozens of positive, predominantly five-star reviews from satisfied clients across the continent. Knowing from personal experience how challenging learning a foreign language or mastering the art of essay writing can be, I aim to facilitate the process for my students by personalising my lessons to their individual needs. Personable, passionate and productive, my mission is to help my students not only achieve but exceed their goals.
I have recently graduated from the University of Birmingham with first-class honours, as well as the Richard Shackleton prize for best dissertation in the year. As a consequence, I have developed my essay writing techniques and structures to a level that is a very high standard. Within my tutoring sessions, I will be able to help to pass on the skills and techniques to my clients and make them feel comfortable and assured when facing a tricky question or concept.
Most importantly, however, history and English are subjects that need to be approached with curiosity and fascination. My sessions will approach various history and literature in a way that removes the perceived dustiness from History and English and will help the client to approach difficult concepts in an interpretive manner, which will help them to write clearer and more confident answers.
I am a current masters student and very flexible, I will be able to be accomodating for the student when they would like a tutoring session. Moreover, I will offer the first session free in order to see if the client enjoys and responds to the teaching. Flexibility and comfort are crucial.
I will be able to offer valuable essay and exam technique for clients in their GCSE or A-Level cycle- or just for students wishing to feel more confident. Fundamentally I will instruct how to break down a question, choose an appropriate structure, pick critical evidence and lay down quality and evaluative analysis. For clients looking to develop a wider interest in historical events, ideas and theories, I can use the experience and reading from my university years to teach these in a unique and exciting way. I firmly believe History to be dependent on curiosity and I would relish teaching it in this way.
For those looking for English lessons: I attained an A* in my GCSE, an A* overall in my A-Level (including full marks on my English coursework in year 13), as well as a first in a module on George Orwell in my final year that was very literature-based. I am more than capable of teaching a fascinating programme in both English and History and I look forward to doing so.

Raising the academic attainment of students has been a deep passion and successful achievement - as a former Founding Principal of a school for 4- 16-year-olds, a current practising English teacher, and a tutor. I'm now in my fifth year as a newly qualified primary school teacher at the Ridgeway Primary school in Whitely, Reading. I have mainly taught across Key Stage 2 but have some experience in Key stage 1. I am a Spanish and English Graduate from the Russell Group University of Leeds with over 3 years tutoring experience. This began with a mixture of guided reading coaching, teacher shadowing and teaching EFL tutoring in Madrid for two consecutive summers. Here I was entrusted with independently researching and collating my own lesson plans to markedly raise the linguistic level of nine-year-old Alejandro. Within a week, Alejandro could form the second and third conditional clauses in English, a high-level requirement for a student of his age. Personally, this taught me that flexibility is paramount in engaging students and improving their confidence; there is no one-size-fits-all method to tutoring.

I have completed my law degree from the University of Birmingham with a 2:1 (65%) and achieved a distinction on the LPC MSc in Law and Business Management. My degree was extremely challenging but it is also intellectually stimulating and broadened my outlook. With three years of experience tutoring English to students from years 5-11 and Maths to years 5-7, I have built a great rapport with my students. They are my mentees and I love being able to give them tips and hints regarding their future education and sharing my learning experience with them. My lessons consist of going over content, watching a video together regarding the lesson content and then completing questions together. I find that my students enjoy watching a video as it breaks up the lesson and makes it a more interactive experience. My lessons are very conversational, as I allow my students to articulate their thoughts, have fun whilst still being productive. My interests and hobbies consist of reading, photography, meditation and exercise.
I have been a tutor for a few years teaching both face to face and online. To me, the most important thing as a tutor is to really listen to your student and let them explain what they may find challenging about a subject. Each student is different and therefore their lessons should also be unique. My students appreciate my friendly approach to learning and it is important that the students are in the driving seat of their lessons. I regularly ask my students what they would like to focus on and I base my lessons around where they can make the most progress.
I think it is important to have a tutor that is actively learning more about their subject of choice and that is why I am unique as a tutor. I am currently studying English literature with French and Spanish at The Universoty of Sheffield and this degree encompasses my strenghts and also what I enjoy.
