I am a reliable individual with childcare experience, undertaking a Primary PGCE in September. I am looking for some additional work outside of my current 9-5:30 weekday job. I am a graduate of English Literature with a 2:1. EYFS trained.
I have worked in after school and holiday clubs across Brighton and London. I also have experience in baby sitting children with additional needs. I have worked in the capacity of a Drama Teacher for ages 3-16 previously within a theatre school setting.
I currently work 9-5:30 Monday-Friday so am looking for early morning, evening, or weekend roles.
I am a fully qualified English Teacher with 12 years experience working in a secondary school. In my career I have progressed to the Senior Leadership Team as an Asistant Head Teacher and have a comprehensive background in pastoral care and behaviour management. As a teacher I have been responsible for GCSE and A level exam groups working succesfully with students at all levels of attainment. I have also worked with students joining secondary school in Year 7 and have also taught the full Key Stage 3 curriculum.
As a teacher I pride myself on a calm and supportive approach enabling those I work with to achieve their potential in a postive learning environment. I also understand the importnace of feedback and targets in helping students make progress and reach their goals.
Over my seven years of teaching at a comprehensive school in Crawley I have taught four English GCSE exam specifications, as well as A-Level English Literature, AS-Level English Language, PDC and KS3 German. During these unprecedented times I would like to reach out to as many students as possible, particularly those whose parents are struggling to juggle the pressures of lockdown home life and education, so am currently offering my services as an online tutor.

I have extensive experience in 1:1 tutoring of students with ASD, ADHD and dyslexia, amongst a wider range of needs and contexts.

An experienced GCSE Language examiner, I know exactly how to tackle each question for the English Lang and Lit examinations. I have successfully prepared A-Level students to sit (and achieve an interview in) the Oxbridge ELAT test and my A-Level Literature, Language and Literature students have all achieved their target grades or higher. I am currently working in a school therefore, my availability is only after school and weekends. In fact, I just trained with the Bristol Dyslexia Centre and I can't wait to share some brilliant new writing tips & tools with you!
What will my child learn?
Your child will unleash their inner storyteller or poet!
They will learn how to plan, structure and edit their writing. They will power up their poetry with similes, metaphors and rhyme. And they will develop their vocabulary to really make their stories sparkle!
My focus is always about celebrating children's creative ideas. Once they're feeling motivated and ready to write, then I gently guide their grammar and spellings.
How do you support dyslexia?
Although I'm not a specialist dyslexia tutor, I'd love to make my lessons as engaging and inclusive for your child as possible.
They might like to use a laptop or a tablet to type, or to record their ideas vocally, and that's great! I'll use a visual timetable to help them stay on track. Plus, I'll give them extra thinking time, reading time and writing time.
