I am a fully qualified English Teacher with 12 years experience working in a secondary school. In my career I have progressed to the Senior Leadership Team as an Asistant Head Teacher and have a comprehensive background in pastoral care and behaviour management. My name is Holly and I'm an 18 year old tutor currently on a gap year!
Although I do not have any experience tutoring I have work experience in nurseries and helping run a youth club and have a strong passion for teaching children of all ages.
I will create a relaxed session, aiming to allow students to feel comfortable to ask questions and ensure they feel more confident in the subject. My focus is always about celebrating children's creative ideas. Once they're feeling motivated and ready to write, then I gently guide their grammar and spellings.
How do you support dyslexia?
Although I'm not a specialist dyslexia tutor, I'd love to make my lessons as engaging and inclusive for your child as possible.
They might like to use a laptop or a tablet to type, or to record their ideas vocally, and that's great! I'll use a visual timetable to help them stay on track. Plus, I'll give them extra thinking time, reading time and writing time.
