A little about me in the school setting
My roles have allowed me to build on a range of areas that I have been interested in for some time. My focus on ‘pedagogy’ has been developed towards ‘praxis’ – the idea that one reflects and acts uponp ractice to transform it. What I have learnt is that a narrow focus on the classroom isn’t enough. Instead,an effective system is one which develops productive and synergistic relationships between learners,families, and the community, and that a deep understanding of the context in which you work, the locality and the culture in which learners live is crucial. I believe we have started on exciting journey here proceeding and developing positively on recent Ofsted feedback – building on those to ensure that learning really is a community endeavour in the best possible sense. My ‘curriculum’ will not stop at the door of a classroom, or the school gate but will be a transforming powerhouse for all living in the community. This, in practical terms could be parenting support in the form of coaching and peer support; providing evening classes in basic skills, parental revision classes to help them best assist their child. It could be using the school buildings as a base of local CPD provision, for meetings, for collaboration among local departments.

I have been an English and Languages Tutor for just over five years now, having previously worked as an English Teacher at a French school, and conducted online tutoring part-time. I am moving to London in July to continue stuyding for my SQE Legal Course, and would be available for part-time tutoring in Law, English, French and Spanish.
I studied French and Spanish as my undergraduate degree at the University of Exeter, where I graduated in 2023. This four-year degree has given me a great deal of confidence in both languages, particualrly through having a Year Abroad where I worked as an English Teacher in a Secondary School and Professional College (teaching young adults). Alongside my degree, I consistently worked as an English Tutor and have built up my teaching style and resource bank for students. I am particularly proud of my students and what they have gone on to achieve - from developing their English language to allow them to build a life in England and flee from war-stricken areas, to nurtuting students to pass their TEFL qualifications and other various exams. I am a determined and (quite!) competitive individual, which I believe motivates students and encourages them to study and pass their GCSEs or A-level exams.
I have worked with children and young adults of all ages (from 4 years old to 22 years old) and have tutored adults in English Conversation Classes for nearly three years. I have over 15 years experience in Teaching, and over 12 years experience in Private Tutoring. I currently offer both face-to-face in person tutoring for 1:1 or small groups. I cater for each child's specific needs through appropriate differentiation, and according to their individual interests. I strive to make the learning fun and engaging, and adapt the lesson as we go to ensure the most enjoyment and motivation. My lessons are usually 1 hour long, depending on the needs and abilities of the child and I cover the ages from KS1 up to GCSE in both English and Maths. I also offer home schooling sessions to individuals who are unable to access the mainstream education system, whether it be from a SEND need, a preference or from anxiety, for example. These sessions cover the Core subjects as well as teaching Life Skills such as cooking, woodwork and sewing etc. In addition to this, I offer discrete tutoring for adults in Maths and English (Reading).
