Welcome to East Midlands Drum Tuition, a place to learn, have fun and develop as a drummer. My name is Tom W. (Ba Hons Music and Qualified Teacher, QTS qualification) and I have been teaching for 20 years. As well as teaching drums, I am also a qualified classroom music teacher so you can be confident that your lessons will be professional and taught by an experienced and qualified teacher.

I offer high quality drum tuition for all ages and abilities. Whether you are learning for fun, wanting to complete grades or an experienced drummer wanting to develop your skills.
One to one lessons and group lessons available. Home lessons available. Weekly and fortnightly lessons welcomed. All styles covered and video lessons available if you are a long distance learner.

Online lessons are a great way to learn the drums in the comfort of your own home. Lessons are conducted from our drum studio using acoustic drums that are captured using multiple professional microphones and then mixed through Logic Pro, giving the student very high-quality audio. Before the lesson, you will receive an email with any materials required such as PDF's and worksheets. DrummingWithOli is an independent drum tuition business, founded by Oli. A popular music graduate from Leeds Conservatoire, in 2020. Having been playing since the age of 6, with experience in drumming in venues across Leeds, recording for local artists, playing in pit bands for amateur theatre productions and regularly playing at church since the age of 12, Oliver is well equipped to teach students from beginner to advanced levels of any age. Oliver has also a merit in both grade 8 in drum practical, and grade 5 theory.

£32 per hour, £22 per half hour. In person, online or at your home for a £10 surcharge within approximately 10 miles. I play, teach and record in my own professional studio near Tenterden, about nine miles from Ashford.
BIO
With a passion for hitting hard and a career spanning nearly two decades, I'm Jamie: a professional drummer based in Kent with my own fully equipped, sound-proof studio, where I both work and teach on real acoustic drums. While my speciality lies in rock and metal music, I’ve expanded my repertoire over the course of my career to include a diverse range of genres such as jazz, funk, hip-hop and pop. Alongside my freelance work as a musician, I’ve also been teaching drumming for over six years, both privately and at music schools.
I genuinely love teaching, and enjoy working with students of all ages across various genres and styles. My approach is student-centred, prioritising their own unique interests and goals. Whether it's progressing in graded exams, mastering a specific song, honing timing or developing overall musicality and confidence, I tailor my lessons to each student. I’m committed to continuous learning and growth, and have had the privilege of studying under esteemed drummer Dave Elitch. I also have a range of experience working in professional studios and with various bands.

EXPERIENCE
I’ve been teaching drums privately since 2018, catering to a diverse range of students aged 6 to 70. As an Enhanced DBS Verified instructor, I prioritise the safety and well-being of my students, and I’m happy to provide references upon request. Additionally, since 2023, I have the privilege of teaching at two respected institutions: the prestigious YMS in Canterbury and Drumwise in Maidstone.
Throughout my teaching career, I’ve seen my students achieve remarkable success: some have excelled in graded exams, while others have pursued further education in music schools. Many students have joined bands or embarked on solo projects purely for the joy of playing and making music. As part of my comprehensive approach, I ensure that all students develop competent foundational skills in reading music effectively.
Drawing upon my extensive experience as a working musician, my lessons extend beyond drumming: I provide valuable insights into essential topics such as tuning, recording, group rehearsal and song-writing. By incorporating these aspects into my teaching, I equip my students with a well-rounded skill set that extends beyond just drumming proficiency.
My approach is practical and personalised, centred around your goals and aspirations. What do you want to learn? What are you trying to achieve? I prioritise hands-on playing from the get-go. While theory is important, my immediate focus is on getting you playing the kit. After all, that's why you're here!

Robin T. is a Music Teacher in Banchory serving 65 Students and an International cohort of Students via Online Tuition. Singing, Piano, Guitar, Bass, Drums and Elocution Lessons. After teaching internationally for years, Robin has added to his role, teaching English through Music. Incorporating TEFL qualifications with Music Teaching qualifications.
I teach to all ages, up to Grade 8 on the Drums, Grade 4 on the Guitar and on the Piano I will teach to a high standard, but not through the grading system as I only teach basic level sight reading for Piano.
I have taught many students over the years at varying ages and skill levels, and all have come out more passionate and more improved at there instrument.
My students have all mentioned how they find there lessons thoroughly productive and enjoyable, finding themselves increasingly motivated to play after having lessons with me. (see references at the bottom)
In my lessons I will take the students up through the Grades (ONLY for Drums and Guitar), via Rockschool, teaching them everything they need from technique, learning how to sight read, developing improvisation skills, playing in many different genres of music, and how to play by ear. I will also cover how to complement the music you are playing to and how to serve the music. As well as developing musicianship skills and how to have the right attitude in the music business.
- on the Piano I will teach to a high standard, going through everything listed above, as well as scales, arpeggios, inversions, learning classical and contemporary pieces, and basic level sight reading, but NOT grades unfortunately.
