My name is José María de Lucas Sacristán, though most know me as Chema Sacristán. I've been a professional drummer since 2004. I'd like to share a brief biography of my career in the U.K. In 2002, at 19, I realized my love for music and moved to Bristol, U.K., where I lived for four years. Bristol exposed me to all sorts of music, including rock, jazz, world music, and more. I played my first shows and worked with over five different local bands, gaining valuable experience. In 2006, I moved to London to study at Tech Music Schools, known as "Drum Tech," where I completed my higher education and earned a BMUS in Popular Music Performance (Hons), licensed by West London University. After completing my degree in 2011, I worked exclusively as a performing drummer and drum teacher, giving private lessons in my own studio, Oktopus Music Services, in North West London. In the past nine years, I've had the privilege of performing, recording, and writing with some of the best musicians in the London and U.K. scene, such as Kevin Glasgow (one of Europe's best bassists), Robin Banerjee (Amy Winehouse's guitarist), Roberto Manzin (Zucchero), Felipe Martíns (Emeterians), Juan Whist (The Voice National Spanish TV), and many others. I've showcased in most of London's live music venues and with the best U.K. and European entertainment agencies, such as Scarlett Entertainment, Full Stop Entertainment, and more. After 20 years of professional experience, I've decided to focus fully on teaching drums and performing. My studies and extensive career reflect my devotion to music, and I've mastered many techniques, including improvising, independence, coordination, and vocabulary in most music styles of modern popular music and some world music genres. My target is to share my passion for music, drums, and percussion on stage and during private lessons. Hi, my name's Serban. I'm a professional drummer/percussionist with 22 years experience performing live in rock and symphonic orchestras across Europe. My qualifications, teaching experience, passion and long standing dedication to drumming, started at 12 years of age, and I started my musicianship at 6, learning the piano. 2021-present: Drummer of function band with regular weekend performances around UK. 2020-present: Started the original band “Surrounded” where I’m the current drummer, co-producer, and social media promoter. 2018-2021: Recording drums in different recording studios in UK for original bands as “Import-Export LTD” and “Nodo”. 2014-2017: Joined the biggest AC-DC tribute band in Italy called “AC-DI”. Educator - 2013-present – I first began teaching drum lessons at Hazelwood school in 2013, as part of my teaching assistant role. Since graduating from LCCM in 2018, I’ve taught drums in and around the London area, both privately and peripatetically, for HaytoHome music and most recently for the School of Rhythm in Penge. My students range from age 6-60 and I cover beginner to advanced level. I currently teach around 20 students a week, and have helped them achieve distinctions in Rock school and Trinity examinations whilst furthering their stylistic and technical awareness. I’m also experienced in teaching via Zoom and Skype, and am DBS checked. Outisde of teaching, i regulalry perform function gigs accorss the UK and am part of an originals band, Borderlines.

My teaching is based on playing to actual music, not boring, repetitive exercises. We might work on Trinity Rock and Pop graded tunes and learning those charts, or your own favourite music that you've always wanted to learn and jam to.
Obviously specific drum and snare related exercises have their uses, but only to get you playing what you want to play.
Whatever your style, I get you results.

I teach at my studio (online and in-person) and peripatetically in schools and colleges. I am the Lead Music Mentor for Essex Music Service (EMS), running and facilitating projects for children with learning disabilities. I spent some time at Barnet and Southgate College as their Music Lecturer specialising in teaching their SEN and those with Autism, PMLD and LD. I'm also the Musical Inclusion Specialist for MusicNet East.
Most of all, I'm a professional drummer and experienced teacher, offering friendly and bespoke tuition from my studio in Rainham, Essex (or online via FaceTime/Skype/Zoom). I teach semi-professionals to absolute beginners, but am also trained in teaching children and young people.
I am a registered Drumsense Master Tutor and Drumsense Tutor Trainer and fully CRB checked. Maidstone's longest standing and most experienced drum tutor, established in 1998 with 34 years playing and 20 years teaching experience. All ages and all abilities are welcome and have taught students from 4 years old to 80+ with many now making their own career from performing or teaching drums. About the Lesson
- I provide one-to-one in-studio & online drum tuition offering guidance to students in groove, technique, rhythm and time keeping as well as boosting performance confidence.
- I endeavour to keep my approach interesting, fun and educational to develop students' drumming and musicianship to a higher level whether you're a beginner, intermediate or advanced player.
- Lessons are tailored to suit the individual needs and goals of the student and are aimed to teach at a pace that works for their particular skill level to ensure the most effective results.
- Concepts covered include (but not limited to): foundational techniques, rudimental studies (and how to apply rudiments in unique and interesting ways to the drum set), co-ordination studies, technique, linear phrasing, improvisation, timekeeping patterns, soloing ideas, dynamic control, four-way co-ordination and sight-reading.

A professional drummer/percussionist/music teacher and first class degree music graduate offers professional drum tuition to any level students.
I've been playing the drums more than a decade now and I have experience with bands which play original music, function bands, tribute bands, big bands, orchestras and small jazz ensembles.
I was in the cruise ship industry for about 7 years and built up a repertoire of over 450 tunes.
I'm also a full time teacher of all the drum kit grades of Trinity and RockSchool's books, so after completing a grade (learning three songs from a relevant grade book) pupils can go to an exam and get a certificate.
My dissertation in university was on most efficient ways of teaching music (Dalcroze, Kodaly, Suzuki methods). I did an extensive research, experienced some of the methods first hand and I’m pretty confident the performance I’m offering as a teacher would lead to results.
I also play the bass and the piano and believe that any sort of a melodic instrument can be really helpful for drummers to create better approach towards music.
I'm based in Harborne, Birmingham and I think it would be best to teach at pupil's home, as I don't have big enough space at home.
Fee is £30 per hour.
