I have 8 years of teaching and tutoring experience in a variety of environments. I have always enjoyed teaching, tailoring my tuition to the individual and doing my utmost to ensure that each individual achieves their goals, whatever they may be.
In addition to my education and training, I lived in Austria for 3 years working as an English Language Assistant for the British Council. This invaluable time enabled me to fully hone my German language skills, and I have since worked as an online translator.

Joanna is a polish cellist based in London. She has made her debut as a soloist performing Goltermann’s Cello Concerto in G-major at the age of 12 and has since appeared in concerts and festivals around the world as a concerto soloist, recitalist, chamber as well as orchestral musician. As a soloist she has performed in many renowned concert halls in Europe, Asia and United States as well as at important festivals. In 2017 she made her debut on BBC Radio 3. With a broad range of repertoire, her musical specialisms encompass works from the standard repertoire alongside lesser known pieces. In her recitals she often includes new works, many of them written especially for her and dedicated to her.
Joanna is a founding member of the award-winning Bukolika Piano Trio. She also collaborates with the guitarist Mario Kurtjak as well as with the Rowan Cello Quartet. In January 2020, she received her PhD. Her doctoral research as well as her CD album focused on music for the cello by Kaija Saariaho as an example of new qualities of sound and expression. Joanna received a scholarship from the Clumber Studio to study with Christoph Richter at the Royal Academy of Music in London, where she graduated with Distinction in 2018.
Joanna is a highly demanded teacher, and holds a position as an assistant professor at the Academy of Music Krakow in addition to her ever-expanding class of private cello students across London. She is also involved in the promotion of music by the Venezuelan composer Antonio Estevez, whose music is well known in South America but still undiscovered by many audiences.
Joanna plays on a cello by Pawel Migiel.

For many years, I have worked in the UK and abroad as a professional musician. I am passionate about all aspects of music-making and about inspiring people of all ages to reach their full potential, both academically and practically.
I am currently an ABRSM examiner and have undertaken this role for 8 years, working in many regions of the UK and also in China and Hong Kong. I very much appreciate the chance to provide a friendly, but professional atmosphere in which candidates feel sufficiently at ease to perform to the best of their ability.
I have been Head of Academic Music at a public school in Bath for 7 years and have guided students through the component parts of the GCSE and A level syllabi. Many students have thrived under my care and have gone on to University or Music College to further their understanding of Music.
I also teach Music Theory up to Grade 8. I am passionate that Theory is a vital addition to all practical music-making. Significantly, some students at school chose not to opt for A level Music, but later decided that they wanted to study Music at University. Achieving Grade 8 theory with me enabled them to secure their place in the next phase of their education.
I am a semi professional pianist and teach the piano from pre Grade 1 to Grade 8. I am very happy to teach the full range from young children up to adult learners, and years of experience of dealing with people has, I trust, cultivated a focused, committed and friendly approach.
I accompany a Choral Society and have done so for 10 years, really enjoying the chance to play and inspire people to sing.
I also play the harpsichord in a Baroque ensemble with two professional flautists, a bass viol player and a Baroque vocalist. We give concerts and are all enthusiastic about our playing together and sharing our love of Baroque music.

I firmly believe that everyone enjoys music in some capacity, and my teaching approach reflects that. I will always find a way to make music lessons fun and enjoyable, whilst ensuring each student achieves their maximum potential.
After graduating from The University of Hull in 2009, studying a music degree focusing mainly on performance, I decided to further my studies abroad by attending the 14th international course of musical interpretation at the Frederic Chopin School of music in Nowy Sacz, Poland, being taught under Barbra Halska of the Chopin University in Warsaw.
Feeling the need to pass on my enthusiasm for subject, I decided to take up teaching in a classroom setting, so I completed my PGCE in Secondary Music at The University of Greenwich/Trinity College of Music.
During this year, having the urge to further my piano skills too, I also completed the DipABRSM diploma exam in performance (piano solo).
Over the last ten years I have performed in a variety of settings including solo recitalist, accompanist, wedding bands or even church organist. The vast differences in performance setting have helped me become a more well rounded performer and has consequently broadened my teaching skills.
For nine years I was a secondary school music teacher, including three years as head of department. In this time I taught everything from KS3 classes up to A level Music and A level Music Technology. I taught a huge variety of exam specifications and even became an examiner for one of the main exam boards. As a result I became very effective with teaching students how to fulfil their potential and achieve their goals.
My passion for piano also meant that I continued to deliver private piano lessons all the time I was in schools. I have a 100% pass rate, including theory exams.
Whilst most of my experience is teaching ages 11-18, I have taught pupils as young as 7 and as old as 60, each one being satisfied with my lessons.

I have been in education for over 25 years and have gained a vast amount of experinece in the classroom with children from nursery to year 6 inclusive and have also tutored children in recpeption to year 11 inclusive.
I believe in building on strengths and planning individual programmes for each tutee based on these and their preferred learning method. I do not believe in sticking to what the government expect children to be able to do but work to the level the tutee is at enabling them to achieve their true potential.
I have successfully tutored children with special educational needs including dyslexia where I have seen reading ages increase by 2 years in the space of 6 months. I have enabled year 6 children to achieve beyond their predicted score in SATs and have a 100% record with 11+ and independent school entrance exams - indeed 2 of my tutees gained scholarships to a school that only gives 2 a year.
